The Opportunity

EY FSO Consulting is excited to be looking for professionals with deep consulting experience in the Banking sector, ideally gained from a role in Consulting which includes Strategic Transformation, Customer Experience and F2B operations transformation. The key experience required is a deep, practical understanding of core banking operations and the related processes, systems, technology platforms and risks and control environment. Real world product experience across the following relevant asset classes is key, including Retail / Consumer, Wholesale, SME, Commercial, Private Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking.

We are recruiting a number of roles at Senior Manager levels and so are mostly seeking applications from candidates with 10+ years of experience. Local banking exposure is highly preferred.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the team in helping grow the competency, identify and execute the go-to-market approach and client coverage.
  • Enable the growth of EY Banking practice. Bring the vision of the future of Banking to life with business development activities including the development of point of views, preparing client proposals, and managing go to market campaigns.
  • Generate new business opportunities through a network of relationships across the Banking sector and, bring innovative solutions to client’s most complex problems
  • Lead and manage large scale cross functional projects and operational transformations within the Banking sector
  • Represent EY as the onsite engagement manager, building and maintaining a network of stakeholders that are not only kept informed on progress and outcomes but also presented with insights and are connected to the relevant breadth of EY offerings.
  • Interface with clients at all levels of an organization to help them solve their most challenging questions and support the Banking practice in developing new offerings and thought leadership to take to market, enhancing our capabilities and services
  • Motivate and develop a growing team to inspire them to deliver beyond their perceived potential, all the while establishing a strong foundation in Banking products, functions and processes

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Possess Program Management capabilities on large transformation projects and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated knowledge in Banking sector across core banking operations including: front, middle and back office, pillars of risk management, regulatory compliance, market infrastructure, Banking products and its value added services
  • Self-motivated and willing to ask probing questions to identify client opportunities
  • Possess strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics
  • Possess a self-starting attitude, an ability to think outside the box and thrive on new challenges
  • Ability to develop and manage teams with diverse backgrounds and skillsets to deliver exceptional quality to clients
  • A relationship builder and strong networking skills, both in the industry, internally and remotely across geographies within the EY global Banking community
  • Demonstrate relevant experience and skills to lead multiple proposals, EY point of views (POVs) and go-to-market material
  • Intellectually curious, keeping on top of industry trends and potential for innovations

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or technology disciplines
  • Successful track record in the Banking industry ideally gained through a top tier consultancy, a specialist financial services consultancy, and in the industry at a top tier bank for a minimum of 10 years
  • Comprehensive understanding of front to back operations of the market and its evolving relationship with Digital and Technology enablers and drivers
  • Demonstrated program or project or engagement management ability to plan and execute projects/engagements to a successful conclusion
  • Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and client service skills
  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment or comparable experience working as an advisor to financial services companies
  • Fluency in Cantonese and English, with proficient verbal and written presentation skills

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A can-do spirit with intellectual curiosity and passionate to make a genuine difference while embedding meaningful, measurable change for clients
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, appropriate for senior executive level clients
  • Proven program and project management experience with ability to lead and mobilize cross-functional teams. Preference towards candidates with a track record in the provision of high-impact and -complexity programs
