The Opportunity

The Capital Markets team helps clients to solve their most challenging strategic problems: modernizing their infrastructure, dealing with regulatory change, defining their digital client strategy, enhancing their client service experience and adjusting their long-term business mix. Our teams work across our clients’ front, middle and back offices as well as at the industry level to drive performance improvement across sell-side, buy-side and market infrastructure participants in the capital markets.


Responsibilities, Qualifications, Certifications 

Your key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Service Leader (Partner) in helping grow the competency, identify and execute the go-to-market approach and client coverage.
  • Enable the growth of our Capital Markets practice. Bring the vision of the future of Capital Markets to life with the business development activities including the development of point of views, preparing client proposals, and managing go to market campaigns.
  • Generate new business opportunities through a network of relationships across the Capital Markets sector and, bring innovative solutions to client’s most complex problems
  • Lead and manage large scale cross functional projects and operational transformations within the Banking and Capital market sector
  • Represent EY as the onsite engagement manager, building and maintaining a network of stakeholders that are not only kept informed on progress and outcomes but also presented with insights and are connected to the relevant breadth of EY offerings.
  • Interface with clients at all levels of an organization to help them solve their most challenging questions and support the Capital Markets practice in developing new offerings and thought leadership to take to market, enhancing our capabilities and services
  • Analyze and provide recommendation to client personnel on strategic initiatives and transformations
  • Motivate and develop a growing team to inspire them to deliver beyond their perceived potential, all the while establishing a strong foundation in Capital Markets products, functions and processes



Skills and attributes for success

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated knowledge in capital markets across the trade flow: front, middle and back office, pillars of risk management, regulatory compliance, market infrastructure, Capital Markets products: securities and/or derivatives
  • Self-motivated and willing to ask probing questions to identify client opportunities
  • Possess strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics
  • Possess a self-starting attitude, an ability to think outside the box and thrive on new challenges
  • Ability to develop and manage teams with diverse backgrounds and skillsets to deliver exceptional quality to clients
  • A relationship builder both in the industry, internally and remotely across geographies within EY’s global Capital Markets community
  • Intellectually curious, keeping on top of industry trends and potential for innovations


To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or technology disciplines
  • Successful track record in the Capital Markets industry ideally gained through a top tier consultancy, a specialist financial services consultancy, or in the industry at a top tier bank or market infrastructure provider for a minimum of 10 years
  • Comprehensive understanding of front to back operations of the market and its evolving relationship with Technology
  • Demonstrated project or engagement management ability to plan and execute projects/engagements to a successful conclusion
  • Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and client service skills
  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment or comparable experience working as an advisor to financial services companies
  • Fluency in English, with proficient verbal and written presentation skills


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A can-do spirit with intellectual curiosity and passionate to make a genuine difference while embedding meaningful, measurable change for clients
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, appropriate for senior executive level clients
  • Proven program and project management experience with ability to lead and mobilize cross-functional teams. Preference towards candidates with a track record in the provision of high-impact and -complexity programs
