The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated, self‑driven Senior Technology Director to lead the global delivery, run‑state, and modernization of the firm’s cyber monitoring and response technology and security management technology portfolio. This role is accountable for ensuring mission‑critical security platforms are reliable, high‑performing, and continuously improving, while translating stakeholder needs into a clear vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog. The ideal candidate brings strong executive presence, proven platform and service leadership, and a track record of delivering complex security technology outcomes across a global, multi‑team environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct all activities related to security infrastructure, engineering, operations, and service management.
- Design and implement technology strategies to optimize system performance and guard against cyber threats.
- Develops and communicates portfolio vision, roadmap and drives the technology backlog by collaborating with cross function and business teams.
- Collaborates closely with stakeholders to align security measures with business goals, ensuring that solutions enhance operational efficiency and maintain risk appetite.
- Utilize data-driven insights to drive efficiency and innovation throughout our security infrastructure.
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team to proactively identify and efficiently resolve issues.
- Stay current with the latest security trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization's security readiness and competitive advantage.
- Collaborates with the Information Security Leadership team, Cyber Defense, Compliance, Internal Investigations, Security Consulting, Technology Risk, Enterprise Technology, Client Technology, Legal, Risk Management, and Services Lines in the delivery and enablement of security capabilities.
- Directs product management and delivery activities aligned to EY’s technical standards and information security directives, drives best practices to enforce policies, oversees end-to-end management of technology capabilities to protect EY’s most sensitive data and information systems.
- Directs the identification and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to monitor appropriate performance by the team and services and proactively seeks opportunities for continuous improvement in operational readiness.

Essential Functions of the Job:
- Manages and directs a cross-functional technical team made up of engineering, operations, and service management.
- Is a thought leader for the portfolio and identifies opportunities to improve services and end-user experience.
- Provides oversight and direction for operational budgets, forecasts, and metrics.
- Directing and motivating team members towards well-defined and critical goals
- Drives translation of security strategy into roadmaps of executable initiatives focused on enhanced security controls, user experience and design standards.
- Drives product lifecycle management for portfolio security technologies globally.
- Collaborates closely with Cybersecurity Enterprise Architecture and security technology leadership.
- Drives the use of appropriate Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor overall effectiveness and health of security services and security service enhancements.
- Influences stakeholders to achieve growth and product adoption, and drive processes to deliver solutions that satisfy the needs of customers.
- Cultivate and maintains industry relationships and grow existing stakeholder relationships as related to technology and security solutions.
- Drives innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action.
- Provide point of escalation for security technology requests including those that may require special handling and accommodation.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
Successful candidate must:
- Make data-driven decisions, incorporating current security metrics, priorities, threat intelligence, and organizational risk appetite.
- Have advanced analytical acumen and solution orientation to influence or lead discussions in the specific implications of complex changes to security services that may impact the stability and protection to the global infrastructure.
- Possess critical thinking skills and the ability to quickly identify and understand where there are gaps or issues with service quality and to direct or propose changes to minimize reputational or operational risk as well as financial exposure.
- Be able to propose actions that are strategic in nature and that look beyond ‘stop gap’ measures to lead or direct improvements in services operational delivery in a manner that is effective and balance security risk.
- Be able to navigate relationships across all levels of a matrixed, geographically, and culturally dispersed organization using advanced oral and written communication skills and adapt communication style to the style of others to develop rapport and to remain calm under pressure.
- Make recommendations and influence decisions on product delivery prioritization for the security portfolio to executive management stakeholders.
- Make decisions regarding the operational readiness of new services prior to deployment and determine the impact of new services on current operational models and operational budgets.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Maintain a broad knowledge of EY regional and global end user communities and IT operating environment to recognize where services are impacted when introducing new enhancements and additions.
- Written and oral communication skills to effectively present technical information, communicate technical issues, deliver solution capabilities, and manage sensitive customer escalations with all levels of the organization.
- Interpersonal and collaborative skills to engage senior executives in cross business discussions within a matrixed, geographically dispersed organization and to build a solid network of peers and others of influence.
- Able to build strong working relationships across all levels of a matrixed, geographically, and culturally dispersed organization using advanced oral and written communication skills and adapting communication style to the style of others to develop rapport and to remain calm under pressure.
- Manage team and projects by delegating work effectively and using appropriate resources. Utilize the right mix of people, time and project management disciplines across a diverse culture and multiple time zones. Resolve team conflicts with a proven ability to implement and communicate complex decisions as well as provide individual, team and peer mentoring as appropriate.
- Substantial understanding of architecture, security protocols and operations including design and automation of IT processes.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, including proven abilities to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- An understanding of current IT trends and an ability to pragmatically incorporate applicable advancements into SIEM, SOAR, and GRC security initiatives.
Supervision Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the proficiency, with minimal oversight from the Global Lead for Security Technology Services, to manage direct reports and other team members effectively, select and recruit exceptional talent, align responsibilities and objectives to capabilities, and mentor to achieve success. This role also entails managing and controlling operational budgets which include salaries, procured services, training, software licensing, travel, etc.
Team members may be based remotely or in a work-from-home environment. This will necessitate distance management skills spanning various locations, cultures, and time zones. The incumbent will leverage all aspects of Emotional Intelligence to navigate the intricacies of the business landscape and foster leadership performance in oneself and others.
Facilitating team meetings, town halls, and occasionally participating in Information Security all hands meetings.
Other Requirements:
Due to the global nature of the responsibilities of this position, the globally distributed team report to the position, and the need to support high-priority delivery activities whenever they occur. This position requires flexibility of work hours. Travel requirements are limited in frequency but could involve internal travel.
Job Requirements:
- Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master's degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field would be an advantage.
- Experience:
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in security management, with at least five years in a leadership role.
- Proven history of managing large-scale engineering, operations and delivering secure infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
- Certification Requirements:
- CISSP, GSEC, CRISC or CISM preferred.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $220,000 to $435,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $264,000 to $495,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
