Sovereign AI Associate
Job description
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
The Sovereign AI Strategist role is a part of the Global Applied Innovation (GAI) team within the Growth & Innovation function at EY. Global Applied Innovation is a team of over 200 individuals across the globe that team together to deliver tangible value for EY, our clients, and the world enabled by data, AI and next frontier technologies.
The opportunity
As a Sovereign AI Analyst, you will help EY clients and internal stakeholders navigate the policy, architecture, and operational dimensions of Sovereign AI – including data residency, model governance, secure compute, and national/regional compliance – while contributing to client‑ready collateral and pursuit support. You’ll collaborate with GAI leaders and cross‑functional teams to:
- Translate country/regional requirements into practical Sovereign AI reference architectures, deployment patterns, and risk controls for public‑sector and regulated‑industry contexts.
- Contribute to client conversation packs and strategic account plans for Sovereign AI engagements.
- Support thought leadership and internal enablement content.
- Connect Sovereign AI guidance to AI‑ready data capabilities and Next Frontier initiatives to ensure end‑to‑end solution integrity
Your key responsibilities
- Client & Market Enablement
- Contribute to Sovereign AI client packs (slides, one‑pagers, FAQs) tailored by sector and region; maintain reusable assets in GAI repositories.
- Participate in strategic account planning and pursuits, preparing analyses and visuals that map compliance constraints to feasible AI solution architectures.
- Assist with demos or briefing content that links Sovereign AI requirements to AI‑ready data patterns (e.g., data flywheel, marketplaces) for client conversations.
- Research & Architecture Support
- Monitor policies (data sovereignty, model sovereignty, compute locality, export controls) across priority geographies and synthesize implications for EY offerings.
- Draft reference designs (controls, patterns, “green lanes” for synthetic data) aligned with Responsible AI and regulated‑industry standards; collaborate with engineering and delivery teams for validation.
- Contribute to Next Frontier knowledge artifacts (Quantum, Physical AI, Agentic/CodeGen) where they intersect with Sovereign AI requirements.
- Asset & Program Support
- Help maintain client conversation libraries, playbooks, and internal enablement materials that reflect GAI strategy, priorities, and KPIs.
- Provide inputs to Moonshot.ai initiatives and asset builds where Sovereign AI considerations are material (e.g., deployment, governance, controls).
- Collaboration & Quality
- Work across Super Regions, Service Lines, and alliances to ensure consistent messaging and compliant delivery patterns.
- Uphold EY standards for Responsible AI documentation and solution assurance in line with GAI guidance. (Aligns with our certification/assurance approach described in GAI materials.)
Skills and attributes for success
- Client centricity and outcome orientation.
- Structured problem‑solving with attention to regulatory detail.
- Collaboration across geographies, service lines, and alliances.
- Clear communication: the ability to distill complex policy/technical topics into actionable guidance.
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data/AI, Public Policy, Information Systems, or related field.
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML pipelines and cloud architectures (any major hyperscaler).
- Demonstrated interest in Sovereign AI: data residency, privacy/security controls, model governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and written communication skills; ability to produce concise briefing materials for senior stakeholders
Ideally you also have these characteristics
- Exposure to public-sector or regulated‑industry technology programs (e.g., health, financial services, energy, defense).
- Experience with synthetic data concepts, secure data sharing, or data marketplace patterns.
- Familiarity with Next Frontier topics (Quantum, Physical AI, Agentic/CodeGen) and their policy/architecture implications.
