Position: Manager – GL Close/FP&A/Record to Report Transformation – Banking/Asset Management

Overview:
The Manager will lead finance transformation initiatives focused on General Ledger (GL) Close, FP&A, and Record to Report operations within Financial Services firms. This role requires a strategic manager with extensive process expertise and proficiency in technology platforms (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Adaptive, PowerApps) to drive significant value. The Manager will leverage process improvement methodologies and technology as enablers to achieve operational efficiency and enhance accuracy through best-in-class processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transformation Initiatives: Lead and oversee finance transformation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering measurable outcomes in GL Close, FP&A, and Record to Report processes.
- Comprehensive As-Is Assessments: Conduct detailed assessments of current FP&A processes, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and finance close, to identify areas for improvement.
- Process Documentation and Visualization: Utilize process mapping and modeling tools (such as Visio, ARIS, or Signavio) to document current state processes, visualizing the finance operating model, including handoffs, systems, RACI matrix, and control points.
- Gap Analysis and Redesign: Translate findings into comprehensive gap analyses, prioritizing redesign, automation, and standardization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Management of GL Close Activities: Oversee period-end tasks, reconciliations, journal entries, and ensure compliance with corporate and accounting standards, driving improvements in the close process.
- Financial Statement Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, adherence to accounting policies (IFRS, GAAP), and readiness for internal and external audit cycles.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor key metrics and support quarterly/monthly close cycles, enabling faster and more accurate close and reporting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Tax, Treasury, and Operations, to drive integrated finance transformation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Future-State Process Development: Define future-state processes, outlining roles, responsibilities, and control mechanisms for the To-Be finance operating model.
- Optimization and Standardization: Identify opportunities to optimize finance processes by eliminating duplication of activities across regions through standardization.
- Automation Initiatives: Lead the identification and implementation of automation opportunities for routine activities using RPA, Data Transformation, and Low Code/No Code workflow transformation tools.
Key Skills:
- Deep Understanding of FP&A Processes: Extensive knowledge of FP&A processes, including forecasting, budgeting, finance close, intercompany accounting, financial reporting standards, and management reporting.
- Strategic Process Assessment: Proven experience in conducting As-Is and To-Be process assessments, with the ability to influence business stakeholders and senior leadership effectively.
- Expertise in Process Re-engineering: Strong skills in process re-engineering, leveraging process improvement methodologies, and driving technology-enabled transformation.
- Finance Systems Proficiency: Significant experience with Finance Systems such as Oracle EPM, Anaplan, Adaptive, Workiva, and designing operating models that integrate people, processes, and technology.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, facilitating workshops, and translating complex business needs into actionable solutions.
Education:
- Domain Expertise: Strong exposure to working in the Financial Services domain across Banking, Insurance, Asset Management, and Capital Markets.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. Advanced degrees (MBA or equivalent) are preferred. B.Tech or Engineering graduates with relevant work experience in finance or financial systems.
Experience Requirements:
- Extensive Experience: 10+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or transformation roles.
- Proven Track Record: A successful history of driving finance process improvements, optimizing close cycles, implementing automation, and ensuring compliance in GL Close, FP&A, and R2R functions.
