Role title: EY CTORS Senior

What we do
The primary role of a Tax Senior in CTORS is to support EY’s clients in reviewing, analysing and updating client tax compliance information in client’s system of records, review any changes from time to time, provide necessary support to related teams like tax reporting, with-holding, client onboarding, KYC, etc. 
Tax Seniors are required to ensure highest quality of tax deliverables, supervise, develop and mentor staff. They are also required to help managers strengthen relationships with the client

 

Your Knowledge and experience:

  • Education Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Business studies / Administration / Management, Economics, Banking, Commerce or equivalent (Financial Services/Ops experience preferred with knowledge on Investment Banking domain, Capital Markets & Financial products)
  • Experience Range 8-10 years in similar domain
  • Desired Skills: Knowledge of the US FATCA regulation; Bank/Financial Institutions Knowledge: Products, services, IRS regulations, Tax Operations & technical knowledge relevant to withholding tax etc.
     

Technical skills requirements

  • Relevant industry experience with a blend of SME and People Manager role with hands on experience of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) 
  • Knowledge of tax technical issues and processes relevant to U.S. individual and non-individual entities; familiarity with IRS forms W-8 & W-9 and their associated requirements; Forms 1098, 1099 series, and 1042 &1042-S
  • Common Reporting Standard (CRS) & its due diligence and reporting requirements, Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT)
  • Knowledge of FATCA regulations, inter-governmental agreements, and associated reporting requirements
  • In depth knowledge of Chapter 3 & Chapter 4 Status (FATCA) of W8 Tax forms
  • Basic Knowledge of the Qualified Intermediary Regulations and the requisite compliance requirements along with treaty benefit/requirement
  • ACCA/CPA/CFA/EA certified with experience in Tax – US and other geographies
  • Proficiency in MS office applications, specifically Excel, Word & Power Point

Client responsibilities

  • Good grasp of baseline U.S. Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) regulation
  • Excellent communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with key stakeholders
  • Consistently provide high quality work with integrity and be vigilant to audit standards and requirements
  • Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns
  • Act as a counsellor for Analysts and Advanced Analysts (where applicable)
  • Develop and supervise staff on all technical, client service and engagement management skills, including providing input in performance discussions
  • Conduct research on technical topics and draft related communication for the client, conduct in-house SME sessions
  • Communicate directly with the engagement teams in other offices
  • Proactively recognize issues and recommend solutions
  • Demonstrate professionalism and poise in demeanour, attitude, communication and interaction with others
  • Provide support in business expansion, working on multiple client engagements and extending SME knowledge
  • Communicating and collaborating with Tax Authorities, Internal Legal, Compliance and Corporate tax functions
  • Partnering with Technology to improve systemic tax processing and renovation
  • Control of Client tax offerings and liaising with the relevant BU to ensure compliance

  • Should look for cross functioning opportunities to enhance knowledge

  • Support of the Risk Framework, analysing Key Risk Indicators and providing regular updates to Senior Management on any key risk items
