Tax – Business Tax Services – Private Tax- Family Enterprise Business Services - Staff

The opportunity

The Family Enterprise Business Services (FEBS) practice at EY focuses exclusively on advising large, private, multi-generational family-owned business enterprises. These businesses play a vital role in the economy and their communities and, in so doing, are critical to EY's efforts to build a better working world.

The FEBS team supports business‑owning families as they seek to grow more valuable companies, avoid disruption, and navigate successful generational transitions. This is achieved by supporting families to build and execute four core strategic competencies critical to long‑term success:

  • Business growth – strategies grow larger, more valuable businesses
  • Company capitalization – capital strategies to fund growth while maintaining control
  • Generational transition – governance and transition strategies enable continuity across generations
  • Shareholder liquidity – approaches to provide liquidity to shareholders while balancing business capital needs

As a member of the FEBS practice, you will support advisory engagements across these areas, working closely with senior team members and business-owning families to translate complex financial, strategic, and governance considerations into clear insights and practical recommendations.

Your key responsibilities
You will support engagement teams in delivering business and financial advisory services to family enterprises across the four core strategic competencies. Your role will emphasize analytical support, synthesis of information, and preparation of materials that enable informed decision-making by owners, boards, executives and family stakeholders.  While supporting client engagements, you will work closely with senior team members throughout multiple phases of client work – from initial analysis and design through implementation support activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting analyses related to business growth initiatives, capital investment decisions, and strategic alternatives
  • Assisting with the development and refinement of financial models and scenario analyses used to evaluate growth paths, funding strategies, capital requirements, and liquidity alternatives
  • Supporting capital and liquidity strategy engagements by evaluating appropriate sources and structures of capital to fund growth or liquidity objectives
  • Assisting with the evaluation of third‑party materials (e.g., financing proposals, term sheets, or transaction summaries) and synthesizing key considerations for client discussions
  • Conducting company, industry, and market research to support client discussions around growth, risk, and strategic priorities
  • Supporting generational transition and governance‑related work by contributing to the analysis and development of ownership structures, governance frameworks, and decision‑making processes across the business and family systems
  • Preparing and contributing to client‑ready materials, including presentations, memos, exhibits, and discussion materials used to facilitate owner, board, and family conversations

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing an understanding of each client’s business, ownership structure, and family context
  • Building technical and business acumen by staying current on relevant trends in family enterprise, strategy, capital markets, and governance
  • Demonstrating professionalism and maintaining the confidential and sensitive nature of client relationships and work products
  • Contributing to team success by learning EY methodologies and tools and supporting engagement execution
  • Working effectively within engagement teams and collaborating with senior professionals
  • Managing assigned tasks across multiple engagements while adapting to shifting priorities in a team environment

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance, Economics or Strategy preferred)
  • Progress toward a CPA, CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional credential
  • Two to three years of relevant experience, such as in professional services, financial advisory, corporate finance, strategy or related analytical roles
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, business analysis, and corporate finance concepts
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial models and analytical tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into clear insights
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technical and business concepts
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Exposure to family‑owned businesses, governance structures, or private company advisory work
  • Experience supporting complex analyses or preparing presentation materials for senior stakeholders
  • Interest in how family dynamics, ownership, and governance impact long‑term business success
