The team and the opportunity

 

As a manager you will have a key role in the development and expansion of the department’s tax controversy practice. The tax controversy practice will cover a broad range of services from pre-Audit self-reviews to Tax Audit support services and Tax Appeal support services. In this role as a manager, you will have a key role in the delivery of such services and will liaise with clients, EY colleagues, Revenue Authorities and the Tax Appeal Commissioners. The role will focus on Direct Taxes such as Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Relevant Contracts Tax and Capital Taxes but will also other taxes when necessary.

 

Reports To

 

The Assistant Manager/Manager will report to Enda Jordan (Tax Controversy Group lead – UKI Dublin) and Sandra Brennan (Tax Director)

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Maintain a data base for collation of information on Revenue interventions notified to our client base
  • Create and maintain a data-bank of standard letters for use in dealing with various Revenue intervention
  • Liaise with EY colleagues in other EY departments (e.g. R&D, TP, PAS, PCS and VAT)  to support delivery of tax controversy services
  • Liaise with EY Tax Technology clients in respect of the development of tools to support their delivery of tax controversy services
  • Support the delivery of pre-audit services – corporate tax health checks, CCF reviews, Director’s compliance statements – to clients
  • Support the delivery of tax audit support services to clients
  • Support the delivery of tax appeal support services to clients
  • Mentor and train junior team members

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

  • Candidates should have tax and/or accounting/legal qualifications or be training for same. 
  • Experience in tax controversy type work (preferably corporation tax or income tax) either in a professional practice, industry or with the Revenue Commissioners would be desirable.
