The Team and the opportunity
The client of EY has a requirement for a Procurement Professional over a duration of 12 months to take the lead on specific strategic procurement projects
Your key responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive range of accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will carry out service partnering activities that support the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the organisation's financial reporting and provide business partnering services to assigned business units. These responsibilities should be performed to the highest professional standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
Month End and Year End Close

Responsibility for close off of the month end in the financial system and updating GL posting dates by user.

Analyse general ledger entries to identify discrepancies, misallocations, trends and carry out corrective adjustments as required.

Review GL entries, accruals, prepayments, deferred income and expenditure listings to ensure expenses and revenues are recognised in the correct periods.

Run integrations and management accounts reporting, investigating and resolving unreconciled balances.

Prepare management accounts, including insightful commentary on business performance.

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure balances are accurate and supported by documentation.

Review balance sheet reconciliations against the trial balance and investigate variances.

Prepare and post year-end adjustment journals required for statutory financial statements.

Close off the year end in the financial system ensuring balances are correctly carried forward and reconciled.
Senior Management and Executive Reporting

Prepare administration budget reporting, including analysis, commentary and presentation of findings to senior management.

Coordinate the preparation of monthly executive management reports and complete assigned reporting sections.
Annual Preparation of Financial Statements and Audits

Coordinate the preparation of statutory financial statements and complete assigned sections within agreed timelines.

Review financial statements to identify omissions, discrepancies, errors and formatting inconsistencies.

Prepare for interim and year-end audits by compiling supporting documentation and schedules.

Support internal audit requirements and implement recommendations where applicable.

Run statutory reporting and verification processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
Process Improvement and Ad Hoc Support

Continuously seek opportunities to improve financial processes and systems through automation, standardisation and best practices.

Assist with ad hoc assignments to support the wider Finance function and team objectives.
Business Partnering Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted finance advisor to senior budget holders and management teams.

Lead monthly financial performance reviews, presenting results and identifying risks and opportunities.

Prepare and coordinate forecasting activities, including scenario analysis and planning recommendations.

Maintain ownership of actions arising from financial review meetings.

Oversee the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting within assigned business units.

Educate and influence budget holders on accounting treatments, financial controls and budget management.

Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across Finance teams and escalate financial, compliance, tax and accounting issues as appropriate.

Lead the preparation, review and challenge of annual budgets and financial plans.

Review expenditure proposals and financial assumptions to improve financial performance and value for money.
What we look for
- Hold a minimum of a NFQ degree level 7 qualification in a finance, IT or other related discipline.
- Hold a recognised accounting qualification.
- Have at least 5 years relevant experience working with the financial modules of Microsoft Business Central or similar finance technologies.
- Strong MS Office and MS Excel skills.
- Have proficient Management & Delivery skills (Communication, Relationship Management, Proactivity, Decision-Making).
- Possess proficient Business skills relating to competencies like customer service and business partnering.
- The ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team.
