In response to market demand, we are looking for an experienced Director, working in Financial Services Industry in Ireland or UK, and proven expertise in Delivery of complex Finance Transformation projects.  

 

 Your Key Responsibilities: 

Within FSO Business Consulting and our Finance practice, you'll work as part of a high-performing team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping financial services organisations solve their complex business opportunities and challenges from strategy to execution. As a Finance Transformation Director, you will: 

  • Have a proven track record, leading large and complex (multi-year / multi-million) finance transformations end-to-end. 

  • Be responsible for building valuable relationships with our clients and to develop a track-record of delivery that is recognised throughout the market. 

  • Deliver key strategic business transformations for Financial Services clients, ensuring service quality on one or more engagements at a time, leveraging your knowledge and sector experience to deliver Business, IT and Regulatory driven transformations. 

  • Manage the overall business transformation end to end within the scope, quality, time and budget terms of reference and in accordance with EY and client delivery standards. 

  • Work with the programme team (all parties) EY Partners and client programme leadership, business and technical leads, operational risk and internal audit teams. 

  • Own the delivery relationship with the client. 

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the overall business delivery team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. 

  • Be able to represent the programme at the necessary client governance sessions at an ExCo level and EY internal meetings (Account Level, Competency meetings etc.) 

  • Have a detailed understanding of the costs, forecasts and actuals and manage the master resource list. 

  • Draw on EY’s capabilities in our Business, Technology, People and Risk Consulting practices as well as experience from our global consulting network. 

  • Work with a global team of experts to develop unique and innovative solutions as well as benefiting from best-in-class training and development and bring the right insights and capability at the right time for our client engagements. 

  • Lead EY FSO Business Consulting business development activities, such as proposals, thought leadership and producing input for client events. 

  • Lead EY Business Consulting operations ensuring that all operational metrics are met for utilisation, timesheet and related internal engagement management processes and system inputs. 

  • Manage and coach our people to help them navigate their career in EY, support them with their personal development and the necessary performance management processes (LEAD). 

  • Seamlessly work through ambiguous problems, defining client needs, approach to resolving complex engagements and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. 

  • Write sharp and concise documents at a suitable for C Suite client level with minor review for Partners. 

  • Deliver presentations to C Suite client level and handle live feedback from clients. 

  • Own the management of difficult and challenging C Suite client stakeholders, to provide comfort and reassurance. 

  • Independently lead complex engagements from inception to completion ensuring coordination with client’s strategic objectives. 

  • Manage engagement revenue and billing associated with programme / project. 

  • Actively develop our people through mentoring colleagues to achieve their career goals and building high-performing, cross-sub-service line delivery teams. 

  • Translate client needs into an EY commercial solutions that bring together EY subject matter domains to deliver value and differentiated outcomes to our clients. 

  • Own, develop and maintain senior client relationships presenting insights and innovations that will impact their area and organisation future state and where EY can help. 

  • Ensure Service Quality best practices and standards are delivered on. Delivery of engagements to planned margin. Adhere to firm standards supporting effective engagement management. 

  • Guide and mentor our delivery teams with practical experience of the implementation of Business Transformations. 

  • Create thought leadership pieces that build the reputation of our teams: including public blogs, interviews and speaking at industry conferences on Business Transformation topics. 

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Finance matters and stay abreast of emerging business and industry trends relevant to our clients’  needs such as AI in Finance, Future of Finance for our clients and emerging Regulatory trends. 

  

To qualify for the role, you must have: 

  • 12+ years senior level experience in consulting and delivery of large-scale complex change programmes. 

  • Strong financial background including experience of business case development and financial governance. 

  • Strong market focus with ability to identify and build new opportunities and client relationships and a proven ability to write and shape proposals 

  • Experience managing senior stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and robust advice to the senior management including C-suite. Development of strategic Finance and IT relationships with C-suite decision makers 

  • Excellent communication skills – tailoring communications to suit a mix of audiences. 

  • Deep Functional expertise coupled with a relevant accreditation in their allocated programme/Domain e.g. Credit, Risk, Finance etc. 

  • A proven track record of delivering business value. 

  • Having a track record of delivery within a number of large-scale Finance Transformation programmes, taking ownership of delivery across internal client teams. 

  • Have experience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, operating across organisational and technology silos to drive common approaches, delivering sustainable, agile and re-usable solutions. 

  • Excellent Technology knowledge and experience, covering current trends and best practice Consulting, complemented by strong Finance functional and operations understanding 

  • Characteristics of a forward thinker and self-motivator that thrives on new challenges and adapts quickly to learning new knowledge 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage a team of junior consulting professionals

  • Identify and make decisions that have a significant project impact; escalating decisions that cannot be resolved within the project in line with project/programme governance structure. 

  • Deadline-driven, highly organised, and able to multi-task.

  • Exceptional problem-solving ability including logical reasoning, creative thinking, and the ability to untangle complex issues. 

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing 

  • Identify, drive and lead problem solving and issue management for the project deliverables. 

  • Accountable for project team adherence to EY or client delivery methodology and ensures any deviations are addressed. 

  • Influences and contributes to continuous improvement of methodology. 

  

Level of Influence: 

  • Influences and negotiates project outcomes with senior stakeholders, often across multiple functions. 

  • Prepares and presents analysis, insights, and recommendation to assist governance forums with decision making. 

  • Comfortable managing client stakeholders and working in a consultant / client environment. 

  

Technical: 

  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in using Excel and other tools to analyse and translate data into insights, to develop basic financial models, and to support business case development. 

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge and experience to solve the most complex problems. Have a clear view of the future of your technical skill domain and its impact on people, tools, technology, processes, organisations, and industries, and is recognized as a leader and innovator in the skill domain.
