The opportunity:
In response to this, we are looking for high-performing, innovative and enthusiastic candidates to join our growing team of climate change and sustainability finance professionals who are building a better working world by helping global organisations to identify, measure, deliver and report on the climate and sustainability issues which are most relevant to create long-term value for business.
Successful candidates will join the EY Financial Service’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services team, within our Assurance practice. Within Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS), our focus areas are climate change, sustainability assurance and advisory, navigating the regulatory landscape, and creating long term value. There will be opportunities to work across the focus areas within the wider business.
The Role
This role will place you at the heart of a high-energy, agile team that is committed to helping clients build long-term sustainable businesses. This opportunity will enable you to work with leading financial institutions to deliver better outcomes on some of the world’s most pressing climate and sustainability issues. You will interact with EY colleagues globally and work across our different sectors and business activities.
EY is looking for Manager Candidates with Auditing, Data & Analytics or Regulatory experience to help our clients respond to issues across the sustainability agenda. Key service areas include:
- Sustainability reporting and assurance
- EY’s Sustainability Digital Strategy
- Sustainability strategy
- Climate change risk
- Carbon measurement and management
- ESG advisory
- Responsible investment
Key responsibilities
- Manage work streams to deliver key projects for our clients on the wide range of topics we work on.
- Create innovative commercial insights for clients, adapt methods and practices to fit operational team and cultural needs, and contribute to thought leadership.
- Actively contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives, consistently driving projects to completion making sure that the work delivered is industry leading.
- Work with the project heads to lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, keeping a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Working closely with colleagues, create a positive learning culture and coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.
- Contribute to the development of EY capabilities in technical areas and engage with clients regarding the application of these methodologies to their businesses.
- Collaborate with colleagues outside of Sustainable Finance to deliver multi-disciplinary and cross-geographical work.
Skills and attributes for success
As a Manager, you would be expected to manage workstreams and (Senior) Consultants as part of a range of projects, as well as playing a key role in the delivery of technical work. It is essential that you bring the competencies that will allow you to do, such as

- Strong communication skills, verbal, written but also active listening
Qualifications
We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, but are particularly interested in individuals that have the following qualifications:
- Track record of success from 5+ years of relevant experience in sustainability / ESG at a financial services firm, sustainability consultancy, investment firm or other relevant organisation
- A keen interest in, and understanding of ESG as it relates to financial services (banking, wealth and asset management, insurance, and/or private equity)
- A strong understanding of any, or a combination of the topics that we cover in our team as listed above
- Strong academic record including a relevant degree
- Experience running or contributing to a range of projects
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- An audit background, preferably ACA (or equivalent) qualified
- An understanding of key sustainability issues and trends and how they link to business value.
- Experience working on complex projects that require knowledge of business strategy, sustainability strategy and operations.
- Exposure to finance, strategy, and communications functions at financial or corporate institutions – e.g., strategy, policy, procedures and controls, or an understanding of the policies, procedures and controls needed to support non-financial reporting.
