The Opportunity
The Supply Chain and Operations Consulting team drives business performance by optimizing and transforming supply chain and manufacturing functions. They design advanced planning processes, translate business strategy into actionable supply chain solutions, and enhance manufacturing productivity through digital and operational improvements. The team also develops frameworks to improve supply chain services and operations across value chains.
We are seeking a manager to join the team as an Asset Performance & Field Operations Engineer within Supply Chain and Operations Consulting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the health of physical meters, communication modules, and complex firmware updates.
- Orchestrate firmware update campaigns, ensuring zero downtime during BCRM billing cycles.
- Analyze network communication health (M-BUS or Cellular) and design "Repeater/Relay" placement strategies to achieve 100% coverage.
- Develop a Battery Health Roadmap to predict failures in older meters and plan replacement CAPEX accordingly.
- Analyze battery degradation patterns to forecast the next 5-year replacement CAPEX and plan for "Mid-Life" hardware refreshes.
- Standardize "Field Work Order" protocols for internal technicians responding to AMI hardware alerts.
- Define Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the internal field team to troubleshoot Cellular/M-BUS communication issues.
- Define event/alarm classification and response expectations for meter, communication, battery, and firmware incidents, including severity levels and SLA guidelines.
- Provide advice on the safe execution of remote firmware/configuration changes from an operational perspective, including field readiness and backout planning.
- Support the definition of network availability and data completeness KPIs from the field and communication perspectives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in AMI Metering Engineering or Telecom Asset Management, with expertise in AMI metering hardware, M-BUS communication networks, and firmware update campaigns involving over 1 million devices.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic Engineering.
- Master’s degree in business administration or a master’s degree in digital Transformation / Innovation Management.
- Consulting experience is preferred.
- Experience in the Utilities sector is required, with mandatory expertise in the Electric sector; experience in the Water sector is a plus.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Work Environment
- Based in the Middle East (KSA, UAE, Qatar,..), with flexibility for remote and onsite engagements.
