As an AMS ABAP Developer, you will support the stability and ongoing evolution of SAP systems across multiple clients. You will troubleshoot issues, develop enhancements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations in an AMS environment.

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain ABAP objects including Reports, SmartForms/Adobe Forms, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements (BAdIs/USEREXITs), and Workflows.

  • Support incident resolution and problem management, ensuring timely and accurate fixes for production issues in SAP modules.

  • Optimize existing code through performance tuning, debugging, and root-cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with functional consultants to understand business requirements and translate them into high‑quality technical solutions.

  • Participate in unit testing, regression testing, and deployment cycles, ensuring smooth delivery of changes.

  • Document technical designs, test results, and system changes to support AMS governance and knowledge management processes.

  • Ensure adherence to SAP best practices, AMS methodology, and coding standards.

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong proficiency in core ABAP, including OOP ABAP, RFCs, BAPIs, BDCs, ALV, and Data Dictionary.

  • Experience supporting post–go‑live environments, including break/fix, enhancements, and change requests.

  • Ability to work in multi-client, multi-ticket AMS environments, managing priorities and meeting SLAs.

  • Solid debugging skills and experience analyzing complex SAP processes.

  • Comfortable collaborating across technical and functional teams in a managed services model.

  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with ABAP development in SAP ECC or S/4HANA.

  • Experience supporting AMS functions such as incident management, change management, and minor enhancements.

  • Working knowledge of at least one major SAP module (FI/CO, MM, SD, PM, HCM, SuccessFactors integrations, etc.)

  • Ability to analyze functional specs and convert them into technical solutions. projects.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Exposure to SAP S/4HANA (CDS views, AMDP, RAP, Fiori‑related ABAP).

  • Experience with CPI, integration tools, or ABAP Integration Framework.

  • Familiarity with SAP transport management and DevOps/automation pipelines.

  • Understanding of AMS AI/automation trends (e.g., automated ABAP checks, telemetry-based insights) tools.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

  • Toronto/London/Ottawa/Waterloo/Vancouver/Victoria: $48,000 to $72,000
