Senior Consultant Risk & Credits Transformation - Business Transformation - Financial Services
Job description
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.
Join EY and help to build a better working world.
The Opportunity
The financial services landscape is undergoing profound change. Banks and insurers are navigating heightened market volatility, rising cost of risk, evolving client expectations, competition from Tech and Fintech players, and an ever more demanding regulatory agenda — from Basel IV/CRR3-CRD6 and IFRS 9 to ECB supervisory priorities, IRB model reform, ESG and climate risk, and BCBS 239 data governance. In this environment, risk and credit are no longer just control functions — they are strategic levers for growth, capital efficiency and resilience.
At EY, we go further than simply helping our clients cope with these changes: we are part of the change, and we help shape the financial sector of the future. That is why we have built a strong Business Transformation competence team in Belgium, within which our Risk & Credits Transformation experts partner with financial institutions to modernize their credit and risk value chains — from origination and underwriting to monitoring, provisioning, remediation and reporting. Our goal is to help institutions turn regulatory pressure and risk complexity into competitive advantage, by co-creating pragmatic solutions, redesigning credit processes end-to-end, and delivering data-driven, technology-enabled risk assets.
Unlock the door to an exciting career with our Business Transformation team! We're looking for professionals brimming with enthusiasm to elevate their careers to new heights. Whether you're a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Project/Program Manager, or a Risk/Credit specialist, your expertise will be pivotal in steering transformative risk and credit strategies within the financial sector.
Key Responsibilities
Joining our Risk & Credits Transformation team means working shoulder-to-shoulder with clients to reshape their credit and risk operating models, translate complex regulatory requirements into workable business solutions, and deliver measurable improvements in risk management, capital and cost of risk. You'll play a pivotal role in growing our competence team and contributing to the broader success of EY.
As a Risk & Credits Transformation Consultant, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and optimizing the end-to-end credit lifecycle across banking segments (Retail, SME, Corporate, Real Estate) — including origination, credit decisioning and underwriting, loan servicing, monitoring, early-warning, collections and workout.
- Supporting clients in interpreting and implementing regulatory and prudential change — e.g. Basel IV / CRR3-CRD6, IFRS 9 impairment, IRB model landscape, ECB / NBB expectations, loss data (LossDB) and RDARR / BCBS 239 requirements.
- Redesigning credit risk processes, policies and controls, embedding efficiency, automation and a strong risk-and-control mindset.
- Bridging business, risk and data: framing requirements for rating and provisioning models, credit data quality, risk reporting and management information.
- Ensuring the client's risk and business perspective stays central to the delivery of digital and data-driven solutions in the market.
- Participating in or managing projects and programs from inception to completion — including scoping, planning, budgeting, stakeholder management and team staffing (particularly at Manager level).
- For Manager profiles: leading workstreams and client relationships, coaching junior colleagues, and contributing to business development, proposals and thought leadership.
- Sharing your domain-specific knowledge and expertise to enhance our collective capabilities.
This is an opportunity to join a team that is not only responding to the transformation of risk and credit in financial services, but is actively leading it. If you're passionate about leveraging your experience to help shape the future of finance, we invite you to explore a career with EY Belgium's Business Transformation team.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Economics, Finance, Commercial/Civil Engineering, Business, Mathematics or equivalent).
- Professional experience (typically 2 – 5 years for Consultant), in consulting and/or the financial sector, ideally in credit risk, risk management, or credit/lending transformation.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following is a strong asset: credit risk frameworks, IRB / rating models, IFRS 9, Basel / CRR-CRD, credit processes and lending products, risk data & reporting (BCBS 239 / RDARR), or regulatory remediation programs.
- An excellent knowledge of business English, and a solid level of French and/or Dutch.
- Strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy.
- Excellent analytical skills, conceptual thinking and a pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach.
- Solid communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both business and risk stakeholders up to senior management (Manager level: proven stakeholder and team leadership).
- Certifications such as Agile, Scrum, PMP/Prince2, FRM, PRM or CFA are a differentiator for more experienced candidates.
- Knowledge of lending banking products and processes (e.g. Consumer Loans, Mortgages, Corporate & SME lending, Public Sector lending, Leasing, Factoring) is a major asset.
