The opportunity

Ready to shape the future of cybersecurity? At EY, our cybersecurity team works alongside financial institutions to strengthen their resilience against cyber attacks while preparing for emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing.

As part of our Cybersecurity team, you will combine strategic thinking with hands-on expertise, helping clients solve complex security challenges and build stronger, more resilient cyber defense capabilities. You will work on challenging and varied engagements where technology, security operations and business priorities come together, giving you the opportunity to make a tangible impact at the heart of our clients’ businesses.

We are looking for experienced professionals with a passion for defensive security operations and cyber resilience who want to further develop their expertise in an ambitious, collaborative and fast-evolving environment.

Your key responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Consultant Cyber Defense, you will work on some of the most interesting cyber defense challenges facing leading organizations in Belgium and across Europe. You will combine technical expertise with client advisory and delivery, supported by EY’s global network, international cybersecurity expertise and technology ecosystem. As part of a local team, you will have the opportunity to continuously develop your expertise, work with new technologies and contribute to the evolution of our cybersecurity services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Expertise & Innovation: maintain strong expertise in defensive security and SOC technologies, including SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, threat intelligence, automation and AI, while staying ahead of emerging threats and industry developments.
  • Security Operations Advisory & Transformation: assess, design and improve security operations capabilities across people, process and technology, including operating models, detection and response, threat hunting, automation and SOC modernization.
  • Client Engagement & Delivery: Work closely with clients throughout assessments, workshops, design and implementation initiatives, translating security challenges into pragmatic recommendations and improvement roadmaps.
  • Thought Leadership & Business Development: Act as a trusted subject matter expert, contribute to EY offerings and thought leadership, and translate emerging technologies and security trends into relevant client opportunities.

Skills and attributes for success

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Engineering, Business Engineering, or a related field.
  • You bring 2+ years of relevant experience in security operations, cyber defense or a related cybersecurity domain.
  • You have a solid understanding of security operations, including areas such as security monitoring, detection and response, vulnerability management and security governance.
  • You are comfortable working with clients and can translate technical challenges into business impact and practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You combine strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, results-driven mindset and commitment to quality.
  • You have an interest in business development and solution design, and ideally have experience contributing to proposals, client pursuits or the development of cybersecurity services.
  • You have a strong interest in AI and emerging technologies and are curious about how they can be applied within cybersecurity and security operations.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, ISO 27001 or GIAC/SANS certifications are considered a plus.
  • You are fluent in English and either Dutch or French.

What we offer you

  • You will be part of a leading global professional services firm.
  • You will be part of the EY family where everyone is willing to offer support and senior management is very accessible.
  • You will join a dynamic and growing team with a great mix of young and experienced professionals focusing on financial services.
  • You will get extensive trainings on technical matters, as well as soft skills and project management, and you will have access to new technologies and innovative equipment.
  • We are proud of our flexible working arrangements, and we will support you to build a successful career and deliver excellent client service, without sacrificing your personal priorities.
  • While our client-facing profession might require part-time working at client site and business traveling at times, we are committed to helping you achieve a lifestyle balance.
