Tax - Tax Technology and Transformation – SAP Tax Integration - Senior Manager

The opportunity

Tax Technology and Transformation provides services to help companies address the challenges posed by existing and emerging technologies, particularly the increasing data burden, by enhancing efficiency and transforming tax functions into cost-effective operations. The aim is to assist businesses in navigating the digital landscape of tax transparency, compliance, and audit methods while tackling pressing challenges. Key offerings include:

  • digital tax transformation,
  • tax applications-as-a-service,
  • tax data improvement,
  • analytics enhancement, and
  • emerging technologies like robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain.

Additionally, services encompass tax technology program mobilization, custom application development, strategy road mapping, implementation of direct and indirect tax systems, post-transaction operational services, and assessments of tax functions. In today's evolving corporate environment, implementing a transaction tax calculation engine is crucial for automating tax determination and compliance processes across various transactional systems, including ERP applications and custom solutions.

Your key responsibilities
Finance and tax transformation, in conjunction with re-platforming of ERP in SAP’s next generation S/4HANA landscape, make up one of the biggest opportunities for our clients to improve and ‘future proof’ the tax function, and represent an area that has seen significant growth and investment – which you will see reflected in your career. It is no exaggeration to say that you will be working on highly publicized projects. This is your opportunity to operate at the dynamic intersection of major technological and tax/regulatory change.

As a Senior Manager in our SAP Tax Integration competency, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality tax technology services to multinational clients. You will:

  • Collaborate closely with partners, managing directors and engagement teams to lead complex ERP tax integration projects, working across the entire end-to-end delivery lifecycle
  • Support the associated sales/pursuit process for new engagements.
  • Help our clients leverage SAP technology and related third-party applications to realize enterprise value by improving their tax function (supporting and automating internal and external operations).
  • Be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously while developing and mentoring the next generation of tax professionals in our practice.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree and/or a master’s degree in accounting, Tax Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of related experience
  • Approved technical certification, CPA license or membership to state Bar or progress to attaining those mentioned
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how ERP transformation programs are delivered using agile methodology, and what tax input is relevant at each phase
  • Understand key tax processes and be able to translate related data/reporting needs into ERP system requirements/user stories
  • Have experience in SAP S/4HANA (core financials plus related ecosystem applications such as SAP Analytics Cloud (“SAC”), SAP Profitability and Performance Management (“PaPM”), SAP Document Reporting and Compliance (“DRC”), etc.)
  • A strong interest in technology and its use in business processes
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills
  • A natural flair for problem solving and an entrepreneurial approach to work
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional client-serving business skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Familiarity with third-party direct or indirect tax systems (such as ONESOURCE, Corptax, Vertex, etc.)
  • Experience defining data and reporting needs for a tax department
  • Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) experience, including HFM, OneStream, Oracle, SAP BW, SAP Business Objects
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g., ERP implementations, tax co-sourcing engagements, finance transformations)
  • Be experienced in working collaboratively on a cross-functional basis across tax, finance, and supply chain (from industry roles) or across tax and advisory (from consulting roles)
  • Have a history of contributing to the development of thought leadership
  • Have a proven track record in delivering high quality work in alignment with key business metrics
