At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.  Join EY and help to build a better working world.

In an increasingly complex and dynamic business environment, EY’s internal Finance function continues to evolve to meet the needs of our clients and the firm. Our global Finance mission is to deliver accurate, timely, consistent, and insightful financial and operational guidance that supports informed decision-making and advances EY’s strategic objectives.

Finance delivers a broad range of services across the firm. The US Account Support finance team partners closely with client-serving professionals to support complex account decisions, annual planning, financial performance management, engagement margin improvement, and investment decisions.

The opportunity

As a Mercury Business Advisor Senior Associate, you will join the internal Finance team while gaining exposure to EY’s client-facing service lines, including Assurance, Tax, Consulting, and Strategy. In this role, you will serve as a trusted financial advisor to an assigned portfolio of partners, ensuring high standards of financial management and performance.

Your key responsibilities

As a Mercury Business Advisor Senior Associate, you will support client-serving teams in managing external engagements from a financial performance perspective. Your role includes proactive financial advisory support throughout the engagement lifecycle, as well as on-demand guidance as needed. You will be aligned by service line and provide support in person or virtually within a conducive time-zone environment.

Through comprehensive training, you will develop end-to-end expertise in the Mercury (SAP) finance system, processes, and policies. You will advise engagement teams on effective system usage to achieve targeted financial outcomes.

You will manage a portfolio of engagements of varying complexity, supporting senior leaders with financial analysis, pricing strategies, budget-to-actual reviews, and billing strategies. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for client-related financial insights and compliance with EY finance and quality policies.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing financial reporting to identify trends and root causes, and advising engagement teams on actions to improve performance
  • Facilitating training on Mercury usage and financial management best practices
  • Contributing to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and adoption of leading practices
  • Effectively managing stakeholder questions or challenges by adapting communication and engagement style as needed

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify financial trends and anomalies and provide actionable recommendations
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Effective virtual collaboration and influencing skills across all levels of the organization
  • Strong judgment, listening skills, and ability to escalate appropriately
  • Logical, structured approach to problem solving
  • Ability to manage time effectively across multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Adaptability and effectiveness as a change agent

To qualify you must have

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a client-driven professional environment performing financial analysis and providing recommendations
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods, including limited time off during the June fiscal year-end close

Ideally, you’ll have

  • Prior experience in a professional services environment in a similar role
