About the opportunity

EY AI & Data is the data and advanced analytics capability within EY Asia-Pacific, with over 500 specialist employees working across multiple industry sectors. We implement information-driven strategies, data platforms and advanced data analytics solution systems that help grow, optimize and protect client organizations. We go beyond strategy and provide end to end design, build and implementation of real-life data environments and have some of the best architects, project managers, business analysts, data scientists, big data engineers, developers and consultants in the region. We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong experience in Denodo data virtualization to design, develop, and maintain virtual data layers that enable unified, real-time access to enterprise data across multiple source systems. The role focuses on performance optimization, data modeling, and integration with analytics and downstream applications.

Your key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Denodo virtual views (base, derived, and interface views)
• Build and manage logical and semantic data models using Denodo
• Integrate data from multiple sources including RDBMS, cloud data stores, APIs, and flat files
• Optimize query performance using caching, indexing, and federation strategies
• Implement data security, masking, and role-based access controls
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, BI teams, and data consumers to gather and translate requirements
• Support, monitor, and troubleshoot production issues related to Denodo services
• Implement data governance, metadata management, and lineage
• Develop reusable virtual views and establish standards and best practices
• Document data models, transformation logic, and integration patterns

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Minimally 4 years of hands-on experience with Denodo in data virtualization or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with the Denodo Platform
• Proven experience in logical and semantic data modeling
• Strong SQL skills, including complex joins and performance tuning
• Solid understanding of data virtualization concept
• Experience integrating with REST / SOAP APIs
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Knowledge of data governance, data security, and lineage

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Exposure to ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or Azure Data Factory
• Knowledge of data warehousing and lakehouse architectures
• Experience integrating Denodo with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Scripting experience in Python or Shel
• Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments
