You will be accountable for delivery governance, planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, commercial oversight and team coordination. While this is not a hands-on development role, you must have sufficient software engineering experience and technical fluency to understand solution designs, challenge assumptions, identify delivery risks and clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of technology projects and programmes, from initiation and planning through implementation, transition and closure.
- Define delivery plans, scope, milestones, budgets, resource requirements, dependencies, governance and success measures.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams comprising architects, frontend and backend engineers, DevOps specialists, quality engineers, designers, business analysts, product owners and third-party vendors.
- Apply Agile, hybrid or traditional delivery approaches as appropriate, facilitating planning, estimation, backlog management, sprint reviews, risk reviews and steering forums.
- Monitor delivery progress, financial performance, quality, risks, issues and dependencies, and drive timely escalation and resolution.
- Review and discuss technical solution designs, integration approaches, architecture decisions and delivery trade-offs with engineering teams and client stakeholders.
- Translate technical concepts, constraints and risks into clear business impact and actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Promote effective software development and DevOps practices, including source control, testing, CI/CD, release management, environment readiness, monitoring, security and operational handover.
- Build trusted client relationships, manage expectations and maintain clear communication across delivery teams, sponsors and governance bodies.
- Coach project team members, foster collaboration and support a culture of accountability, quality and continuous improvement.
- Support business development activities, including opportunity shaping, proposal development, solutioning, effort and cost estimation, client presentations, demonstrations and mobilisation planning.
To qualify for the role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum experience of 6 years leading complex software development or digital transformation projects, preferably within consulting, professional services or a client-facing environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, vendors, risks, issues, dependencies, quality and project governance.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and familiarity with solution architecture, application integration, APIs, databases, testing, security and production support.
- Technical familiarity with frontend technologies such as React.js, Next.js, Vue.js and AngularJS, and backend technologies such as .NET and Node.js.
- Ability to understand and articulate how frontend, backend, integration, data, infrastructure and cloud components work together within an end-to-end solution.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, environment management, monitoring and release management.
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation and executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and credibly.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting proposals, pursuits, estimations, statements of work and client presentations.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and remain accountable for delivery outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- This role is not expected to perform day-to-day coding or act as a hands-on developer. However, Delivery Lead must bring prior exposure to software development and sufficient familiarity with modern technology stacks to engage credibly with engineers and architects. The individual should be able to understand technical discussions, ask informed questions, explain concepts and delivery implications, and make sound decisions with input from technical specialists
- Exposure to additional frontend or backend languages, frameworks and enterprise platforms.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud.
