EY AI & Data is the data and advanced analytics capability within EY Asia-Pacific, with over 500 specialist employees working across multiple industry sectors. We implement information-driven strategies, data platforms and advanced data analytics solution systems that help grow, optimize and protect client organizations. We go beyond strategy and provide end to end design, build and implementation of real-life data environments and have some of the best architects, project managers, business analysts, data scientists, big data engineers, developers and consultants in the region. We are seeking a Senior Associate Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in ETL development using Talend and Microsoft Azure data services. The role involves designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines to support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
 

Your key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Talend
  • Integrate data from multiple sources (databases, APIs, flat files, cloud sources)
  • Build and manage data workflows on Microsoft Azure
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
    • Azure SQL / Synapse Analytics
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost
  • Collaborate with data analysts, BI teams, and stakeholders to understand data requirements
  • Implement data validation, monitoring, and error handling
  • Support production deployments and resolve data pipeline issues
  • Document data flows, transformations, and technical designs
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimally 4 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering/ETL Development 
  • Strong experience with ETL design patterns, data warehousing, and real-time/near real-time data processing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Talend (Data Integration/Big Data) 
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including: 
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Data Lake 
    • Azure SQL/Synapse 
  • Strong SQL skills (complex queries, performance tuning) 
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts 
  • Familiarity with batch and near-real-time data processing\
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and access controls
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience with Python or Spark
  • Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD pipelines for data platforms
  • Experience with Power BI or downstream analytics tools
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization best practices
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
