Service Delivery Center - Senior - IBM APIC Platform Operations Engineer

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Backend Support Engineer with strong expertise in integration and building highly available, resilient systems. The role focuses on designing and supporting robust enterprise API solutions, handling complex integrations, and ensuring reliable system performance on a scale.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade API and integration solutions using IBM API Connect and DataPower.
• Create, publish, secure, and manage REST and SOAP APIs within APIC environments.
• Develop GatewayScript, XSLT, XPath, and transformation services to support complex integration requirements.
• Design scalable integration architectures supporting cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises applications.
• Implement API security, authentication, authorization, encryption, and governance policies.
• Deploy and support APIC and DataPower solutions within OpenShift and containerized environments.
• Integrate enterprise applications, including Salesforce, Loan Origination Systems, Servicing Systems, Payment Gateways, Fraud Platforms, and third-party vendor solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and technical solution reviews to maintain platform standards and quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to APIs, middleware, networking, cloud connectivity, and application integrations.
• Support automated deployment pipelines and DevOps initiatives using GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar technologies.
• Participate in on-call production support during off-hours, weekends, and critical business events.

Skills and attributes for success

• Strong experience with IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM DataPower Gateway platforms.
• Extensive experience with REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, WSDL, XSD, XPath, XSLT, Gateway Script, and related integration technologies.
• Strong understanding of API lifecycle management, API governance, and API security best practices.
• Experience implementing OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, Mutual TLS (mTLS), LDAP Integration, and certificate-based authentication.
• Experience with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes concepts, and container deployments.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar automation tools.
• Experience performing production support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning activities.
• Experience with IBM MQ integration and messaging patterns.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelors degree in a related discipline
• Experience with high-availability and resilient system design patterns
• Knowledge of event-driven and microservices architectures
• Exposure to logistics, transport, or enterprise integration domains

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job is: 
• • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $80,300 to $149,100
  • Bay Area California offices – $83,700 to $155,300
  • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $67,000 to $136,800
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
• Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
