Records & Information Management (RIM) – Supervising Associate, Preservation and Disposition
The opportunity
Operating under the direction of the Program Manager and in alignment with the General Counsel’s Office (GCO), this role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance, ensuring data integrity, and supporting legal holds, eDiscovery and information lifecycle activities.
The Supervising Associate manages and executes routine information governance activities, performs data validation and reconciliation, assists in the execution of disposition cycles, and provides subject matter knowledge on RIM tools and protocols. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, high attention to detail, and confident communication skills to work with stakeholders at all levels.
Your key responsibilities
- Preservation and Disposition Support
- Analyzes and searches records metadata in databases according to standard operating procedures
- Applies holds and releases from relevant records in various repositories under established procedures, escalation exceptions or non-standard scenarios where appropriate
- Confirms compliance on preservation and release matters and disposition
- Supports the annual destruction cycle and all off-cycle destruction requests within the United States
- Evidence Management Support
- Support eDiscovery and forensic workflows through direct supervision of employees and/or contractors managing evidence assets, validating datasets, and executing disposition cycles at the direction of Program Manager, Preservation and Disposition and US GCO
- Managing data retention and disposal of both physical and electronically collected evidence to ensure compliance with legal holds and EY records management policies
- Assist in creating a disposition workflow for physical and electronically collected evidence to ensure compliance with legal holds and EY records management policies
- Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Apply RIM policies, procedures and governance controls to support compliance monitoring and reporting, exercising judgment to identify, resolve or escalate risks affecting preservation, disposition or governance activities
- Assist with updates to documentation standards and operating procedures
- Support the implementation of governance workflows and recordkeeping controls
- Stakeholder Engagement, Training & Communications
- Serve as a secondary liaison regarding preservation and disposition technology partners and business stakeholders
- Contribute to user documentation and communications that support adoption of RIM practices and tools
- Project & Operational Support
- Participate in project planning, coordination, and execution for RIM initiatives
- Provide analytical support by collecting data to inform decision‑making
- Apply judgment when advising stakeholders on RIM practices, compliance requirements, and data governance
- Contribute to developing project plans, performance metrics, and data‑driven recommendations
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong understanding of records and information management principles, policies, and lifecycle requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting eDiscovery, forensic data workflows, data validation, and disposition cycles
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical capability
- Ability to communicate confidently with technical and business audiences at all levels
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a virtual, matrixed environment across various time zones
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with RIM technologies and willingness to learn EY proprietary systems.
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with limited supervision; responsible for managing own work and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to provide ongoing work direction, guidance and constructive feedback to employees and/or contractors ensuring quality, compliance and timely completion of assigned tasks.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience of progressively responsible experience, including work requiring independent judgment and coordination across stakeholders, in
- Records & information management
- eDiscovery or forensic operations support
- Data governance or compliance functions
- Technology or system administration experience preferred
- Flexibility to work nonstandard hours, including global coordination as needed.
- Capacity to communicate with external vendors when required.
- Ability to travel periodically to support deployments or major initiatives.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Paralegal experience, particularly in litigation
- CRM, IGP, CIMP, or similar certifications preferred but not required.
- Willingness to obtain RIM related certification encouraged.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $66,700 to $124,700. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $80,000 to $141,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
