People Consulting - Organizational Design -Senior Manager-Consulting
Job description
People Consulting – Organizational Design: Senior Manager
Managing global workforces is increasingly complex. People Consulting (PC) builds and improves organizational and individual performance, delivering a highly complex and challenging mission, especially in an ever-changing working environment. As a member of People Consulting, you’ll be part of a team with a wide variety of experiences and a supportive environment. When you join us, you will gain unique experiences and valuable knowledge working across capabilities, sectors and geographies and have the opportunity to take your career in the direction you want.
The Opportunity
We are uniquely and strategically positioned to advise industry leaders in the face of increasing disruptions, an ever changing workforce and evolving business landscape. Progress in the area of automation, including RPA, chatbots and cognitive computing, is also driving change as roles previously held by ‘humans’ are increasingly being supplemented or replaced by software – software that needs to interact with humans as part of the integrated organizational construct. Our clients need a solid, focused plan for designing their future organization – whether that be employees, contingent workers, robots or a combination there of.
Looking at people as part of an integrated business strategy, organizations are able to gain a competitive people advantage. We help our clients harness their people agenda – the right people, with the right capabilities, in the right place, for the right cost, doing the right things. We help our clients solve their most complex people-related organizational, compliance and behavioral challenges. We help HR, fostering their role in contributing to the business strategy and the strategic deployment of talent.
We cultivate innovation and purpose in our pursuit to be integrated in our clients’ larger organizational change programs – encompassing adjustments to organization and governance models, role definition, capability assessment and the transition of significant numbers of employees to new organizational models.
Key Responsibilities
Our approach to organizational design helps guide our clients from assessment through to implementation. You’ll lead large-scale organizational design projects and advise stakeholders while building relationships with colleagues and clients. You’ll also work collaboratively to deliver innovative and insightful solutions for a range of challenges, from how to best structure teams to deliver on the organization’s strategy to how the organization’s structure can allow for more agile ways of working.
Skills and Attributes for success
Some key capabilities you should be prepared to bring to client facing and internal initiative teams include:
- You’ll be expected to assume operational responsibility and accountability for engagements, generate ideas to expand current service offerings, and identify new business opportunities
- Deep understanding of using organizational design as an integral component of transformational initiatives focused on accelerating business performance. Understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with acquisitions, divestures, mergers and the organizational design implications
- Understand the breadth of our offerings across the firm, in order to bring the best of EY to our clients and be able to sell PAS alongside our other service line offerings
- Align PAS offerings with sector needs, by having a deep understanding of at least one of the sectors we serve (e.g., Oil & Gas, Health, Telecommunications, Power & Utilities, Insurance, Media & Entertainment)
- Lead the delivery of transformation projects, demonstrate technical competence in our capabilities and take a practical/business driven approach to solving complex client challenges
- Develop, shape and deliver programs of work from planning through to implementation – managing project resources and budgets effectively, and managing and mitigating all risks and issues
- Be able to influence and persuade clients and stakeholders to gain support for any major change initiatives and/or decisions
- Encourage and facilitate collaboration amongst team members, and promote an inclusive working environment
- Provide coaching and development opportunities for junior resources and peers, and act as a visible role model for our people
- Advance the PAS practice by representing the business in relevant forums, authoring thought leadership and leading the development of EY methodologies
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Relevant professional service experience, with a global management consultancy firm, or niche consultancy in which you gained exposure to large-scale project(s)
- Minimum 10 years of experience with exposure to multiple relevant competencies, including Change Management, Organizational Structure and Design, Capability Mapping, Organizational Assessment, and Organizational Governance, with success in current job selling and delivering one or more of these capabilities
- Have a primary degree and relevant post-graduate qualification
- Ability to travel regularly
If you’re looking for a role that’ll challenge you, give you opportunities to grow and encourage you to own your career, this role is for you.
What we look for
We’re interested in professionals who enjoy promoting the people agenda in organizations and change initiatives, bringing people issues and challenges to the forefront. You’ll need the confidence to keep the people agenda front and center, and the interpersonal skills and communications savvy to do this in a way that integrates well with executive priorities and objectives.
- Continuous learning: You’ll develop the mindset and skills to navigate whatever comes next.
- Success as defined by you: We’ll provide the tools and flexibility, so you can make a meaningful impact, your way.
- Transformative leadership: We’ll give you the insights, coaching and confidence to be the leader the world needs.
