Job description
Location: Dallas, Chicago, Houston, NY, Los Angeles, Hoboken, Iselin
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
The opportunity
eDiscovery Services within Forensics operates as a managed service, combining internal operational delivery with client-facing consulting support. At the Senior level, professionals serve as experienced contributors within this model, executing and coordinating end-to-end Discovery activities, including legal hold, evidence management, data processing, review support and production, across complex investigations, litigation and consulting matters.
You will apply sound judgment and technical expertise to help ensure work is performed accurately, defensibly and in alignment with EY standards. You will play a key role in maintaining quality, supporting analysts and escalating issues as needed while contributing to services for flagship clients and high-profile matters.
You will advise clients on data-driven solutions to forensic issues and matters involving business conduct and ethics. Working with clients and Forensic Data Analytics teams, you will help design and implement assets that identify risks of non-compliance and deliver insights from data. You will also analyze large volumes of data to identify high-risk relationships and actions related to fraud, bribery and corruption, ethics and other regulatory risks.
Your key responsibilities
• Lead and oversee Discovery activities in accordance with established methodologies, engagement requirements and EY standards.
• Ensure defensible chain of custody and documentation by supervising data preparation for review and validating that final deliverables meet defined quality, compliance and engagement specifications.
• Proactively identify, assess and drive resolution of processing or quality issues by applying standard protocols, reviewing quality control outputs and directing remediation efforts.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and on-the-job support to junior team members, contribute to training efforts, and maintain and enhance internal documentation and playbooks as procedures and data sources evolve.
• Supervise junior staff and provide direction and oversight regarding their activities.
• Contribute to one or more processes, solutions or projects by completing agreed activities, applying judgment and selecting appropriate methodologies to inform recommendations while considering success criteria, barriers, risks and issues.
• Meet individual targets that affect the immediate team and locally established performance objectives related to client service, quality and risk management, solution development and teaming.
• Apply analytical judgment, approved methodologies and technology to evaluate complex electronic data, prioritize issues and make sound decisions that support engagement objectives.
• Exercise judgment and discretion when supervising junior staff and escalate risk appropriately.
• Take responsibility for the high-quality execution and delivery of assigned parts of Discovery engagements and help oversee multiple projects to confirm that work meets client needs and EY quality standards.
• Use technology to provide deliverables, continue learning and share knowledge with other team members.
• Develop relationships with professionals in other service lines and seek opportunities to work together.
• Balance multiple concurrent projects, competing priorities and deadlines, and delegate workload to colleagues or staff as needed.
• Develop others by seeking and offering on-the-job coaching and feedback.
• Apply strong written and oral communication skills and careful attention to detail when managing the quality of services provided by the Discovery operations team.
To qualify for the role you must have
• A bachelor’s degree in business, technology entrepreneurship, computer science, informatics, statistics, applied mathematics, data science or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• A minimum of two years of Discovery experience
• Strong knowledge of the Discovery lifecycle, its components and tools such as SQL, Relativity, EnCase or other Discovery tools
• Excellent project and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work across multiple engagements
• A proven record of delivering Discovery solutions to large, complex organizations
• The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
• Access to reliable transportation to and from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended because ride-share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations
Ideally, you’ll also have
• An active professional designation, or progress toward one, such as CFE, CFCE, RCA or EnCE
What we look for
We look for experienced professionals who combine technical Discovery knowledge with sound judgment, careful execution and practical team leadership. You should be comfortable overseeing complex work, directing junior colleagues, escalating risks, managing competing priorities and maintaining high standards for defensibility, client service and quality.
