The opportunity
As part of EY’s Health Consulting practice, you will work with these clients across the country in solving complex problems in today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment. We currently are seeking a highly motivated Manager, with a focus on clinic operations, to manage client engagement teams, work with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services, and manage business development activities on strategic and global priority accounts.
Your key responsibilities
You’ll spend most of your time working with a broad spectrum of not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare clients, including hospitals, healthcare systems, physician practices and academic medical centers, and on occasion, health plan and other payer organizations, to assess and redesign clinical processes.
As a Manager in our Health Advisory group focused on Clinical Operations, you’ll work with clients across the following areas:
· Operational improvement
· Benchmarking and financial quantification
· Cost reduction/revenue enhancement
· Workflow redesign
Skills and attributes for success
· Demonstrate deep understanding of clinical operations and knowledge of the associated professions. Demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate to new knowledge. Possess in depth business acumen. Remain current on new developments in advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge.
· Lead client engagements. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
· Effectively lead and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Provide constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members.
· Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment. Play an active role in counseling and mentoring staff, seniors and managers within the organization.
· Generate new business opportunities. Understand Ernst & Young and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
To qualify for the role, you must have
· Bachelor's degree and approximately 6-8 years of related work experience; or a master's degree and approximately 4-6 years of related work experience.
· Clinical background is strongly preferred, but not required.
· Experience in clinical operations, clinical care redesign, and margin improvement. Identify and implement ways to reduce costs and improvement efficiency and clinical effectiveness at the management level
· Previous consulting experience is required.
· Experience with assisting hospital and health systems in realizing significant savings while transforming how patients are served. Clinical care redesign experience and experience in collaborating with medical staff to improve patient outcomes and improve margins without reducing quality
· Experience with clinical productivity, length-of-stay management, and patient flow optimization, assessment of nursing department operations from a care coordination and patient flow perspective is required
· Assess and recommend best practices related to case management, nursing and multi-disciplinary team coordination, patient placement, and discharge processes. Track record of expense reduction assessments and/or implementations and/or improvements in capacity/throughput for care delivery settings
· Lead engagement planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client; direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; manage engagement economics; manage engagement risk
· Experience in selling and delivering projects that cover the full life cycle of assessment, design and implementation support; demonstrated record of driving revenue within existing healthcare clients and in developing new prospects at the "C" level of large healthcare companies
· A willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 50%. A valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required.
