We currently have an excellent career opportunity in our Curacao office for the position of Accountant (Senior Associate). The selected candidate must have a broad knowledge of accounting and finance concepts and utilize independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts and review of financial results.
- Preparation and review of journal entries
- Generate reports for Technology cost and process journals for accrual
- Monthly Fixed Assets: - Manage the integrity of Fixed Assets records i.e. additions, retirements and any other changes
- Preparation/payment of Sales/Turnover/Vat Taxes (or local equivalent) where applicable for review by the Accounting Supervisor
- Monthly Inter-company accounts: - Review and ensure the accounts reconciles with its respective trading partner and follow up on reconciling issues
- Monthly review of EYC intercompany payables/receivables balances (includes IFM, manual invoices, ICRRB, etc) to ensure timely settlement/collection, and ensuring large and aged balances are not accumulated on the balance sheet.
- Review of expense reimbursements and Accounts Payable payments to ensure transactions are in accordance with company policies and procedure
- Ensure expense reports for credit card transactions are in accordance with the company policy and processed timely in the SAP system
- Preparation of Balance Sheet schedules monthly for review by the Accounting Supervisor
- Preparation of the FX Revaluation reports monthly for review by the Accounting Supervisor
- Prepare Annual IT Consumables and Depreciation budget for review by the Accounting Supervisor
- Management of Open Items weekly for Bank Reconciliations
- Review of Bank Reconciliations sent by GDS and submission to Accounting Supervisor for approval
- Ensure month end close activities are completed in accordance with the month end close schedule which will be monitored by the Accounting Supervisor
- Supervision of General Ledger Support Staff
- Assist with special projects as required and any other ad hoc duties that may arise
- Any other tasks assigned by Manager or Finance Director

To qualify, candidates must have:
- Completed MBO education in a relevant field (e.g. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration)
- Approximately 2-5 years’ experience in a professional atmosphere in a finance/ business capacity
- Ability to understand the expectations of customers and deliver service that meets or exceeds customers' needs within policy guidelines
- The ability to identify and resolve issues that impact the delivery of quality service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive, "can-do" attitude and approach to responsibilities; the ability to assist and support leadership in addressing new challenges and changes
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and support skills across different organizational teams
