Legal departments are facing significant pressure to demonstrate greater efficiencies and value. New regulations, technologies and events are prompting legal departments to explore new ways to optimize their functions, reduce costs and provide value to the overall organization.

 

We currently have a career opportunity for a Consultant on our EY Law Legal Operations Team. EY’s Legal Operations Team works with clients to improve the performance of the legal function and add value to the overall organization. The team serves high-profile, national and multinational clients across the globe. We are a growing, dynamic practice with excellent opportunities for career development.

 

As a Consultant, you’ll be at the heart of EY’s goal for Legal Operations and will have the opportunity to work directly with Legal Operations leadership within the region. It’s a role with far-reaching implications, so you’ll be working with stakeholders across industries with some of the most innovative tools available.

Team members serve as business advisors and assist clients in transforming their legal processes from analysis phase to full implementation.  

 

Your key responsibilities as a member of our team:

 

Ability to demonstrate proficiency or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

 

  • Operating strategy and organizational design– assist clients in identifying improvement opportunities and developing responsive legal service delivery operating models and organizational structures
  • Process Optimization – design effective and controlled legal-business processes to increase efficiency, reduce risk and drive business results.
  • Spend analysis and strategic sourcing - perform spend analysis and correlative strategic planning for legal departments activities
  • Legal contracts transformation – understand contracts and contract lifecycle management (CLM) processes. Assist clients modernize, streamline, and/or automate their contracting efforts as well as leverage the data available in contracts to deliver the business actionable insights.
  • Digital transformation
    • Assist the client to maximize the value firm existing technology investments and design new legal service technology platforms (e.g., Case Management, Matter Management/ eBilling, CLM, legal service workflow, Document Management, Document Automation).
    • Leverage experience with commercially available legal technology applications to help clients evaluate, select and implement technologies that will bring faster and more efficient processes (e.g., SharePoint, Onit, Team Connect)
    • Apply knowledge of emerging technologies – assist the client with opportunities to leverage RPA, AI, Self Service workflows and other technology to drive efficiencies and overall cost reduction across the legal function.
    • Legal technology assessment and implementation – assisting clients in evaluating, selecting and implementing technologies that will bring faster and more efficient contracting (e.g., Legal Tracker, DocuSign, Agiloft, Sirion, iManage, Onit, HighQ, etc.).
  • Overseeing the provision of EY Legal Managed Services including Contract Lifecycle Management, Corporate Secretarial services and Research and Regulatory Mapping

As a part of the EY Legal Operations team, you will lead, manage and contribute to these projects. While exact activities will vary from project to project, but may include:

 

  • Gathering business requirements and preparing documentation of processes, required functionality, implementation approach, and testing scenarios
  • Analyzing functional requirements and business processes
  • Implementing processes and/or systems per client requirements
  • Interacting and communicating with clients as needed
  • Providing project management support to team and client leads
  • Managing client and internal team expectations through proactive communication and engagement.
  • Providing regional project management and coordination for Legal Managed Services projects

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Business, Analytics, Business, Statistics, Journalism, Law) or equivalent work experience
  • Master’s degree, PMP, CIPP/E, CIPPM, MBA, or law degree, or postgraduate qualification is an advantage
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in a corporate or legal environment. Experience within a corporate legal department is also valuable.
  • Succinct and structured oral and written communications skills. Proficiency in English and ideally Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia, both written and verbal is required
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address client needs, develop client relationships and define resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collection
  • Relevant experience in one or more of the following: a) legal department operations and/or strategy; b) legal and compliance process design and controls; c) change management; d) legal and emerging technologies; and/or f) legal pricing, data and analytics; g) Legal Managed Services; h) Law Firm Operations; i) Legal Function Consulting; (j) business or technology consulting
  • Excellent organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • May require occasional travel
