The opportunity

EY Global Payroll Operate (GPO) is a multidisciplinary practice delivering standardized, scalable, and technology-enabled global payroll services across 150+ countries. The Manager – Technology Consultant is a client-facing technology lead role within the GPO Technology team, responsible for leading effective implementation of EY’s payroll technology solutions in alignment with global standards and client-specific requirements. The role serves as the primary technology point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders during GPO implementations and coordinates across business, implementation, configuration, data, testing, and product teams.

The Manager – Technology Lead Consultant is accountable for translating client business and payroll requirements into clear, actionable technology specifications and supporting their implementation within the GPO technology ecosystem. The role bridges clients and technical configurators by ensuring requirements are understood, documented, validated, aligned to GPO standards, and implemented accurately through a structured and trusted technology delivery journey.

Your key responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technology point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders on GPO technology-related topics throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Lead client-facing workshops, discovery sessions, and design discussions to gather, clarify, and validate business, technical, data, reporting, workflow, and integration requirements.
  • Clearly explain GPO technology capabilities, constraints, design decisions, dependencies, and delivery expectations to client stakeholders across HR, Payroll, IT, and Operations.
  • Translate client requirements into structured functional and technical design documentation for GPO tools such as DigiPay, Payroll Command Centre, workflow components, integration components, and related technology solutions.
  • Ensure requirements and proposed solutions align with GPO global standards, approved delivery methodologies, compliance expectations, and client-specific needs.
  • Coordinate with the Technology Configurator to clarify requirements, explain design intent, review configuration outputs, and support issue resolution against documented requirements.
  • Work with data migration, testing, payroll, product, and implementation teams to support seamless end-to-end delivery of technology components.
  • Monitor technology implementation progress, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies, escalating where appropriate to implementation leads or senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of requirements, solution designs, technology decisions, assumptions, configuration review outcomes, and client validations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of GPO technology methodologies, templates, documentation, reusable assets, and lessons learned.

Skills and attributes for success

  • PMP Strong experience in technology consulting, system implementation, requirements gathering, or solution design, preferably within payroll, HR, or financial systems.
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles, including facilitating workshops, documenting requirements, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Solid understanding of implementation lifecycles, functional design, configuration handoff, testing support, and go-live readiness activities.
  • Ability to translate complex business and payroll requirements into clear, structured technology specifications and design documentation.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional and global teams, including configuration, data migration, testing, payroll, product, and implementation teams.
  • Working knowledge of payroll operations, HR technology, data flows, reporting, integrations, and technology-enabled service delivery.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, MIS, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with global payroll platforms, HR technology ecosystems, or managed payroll service delivery models.
  • Approved technical certification is required
  • Project Management experience.
  • Familiarity with GPO tools and delivery models, including DigiPay, Payroll Command Centre, workflow-based solutions, and integration components.
  • Experience working alongside configuration, development, data migration, testing, or integration teams.
  • Project or implementation methodology experience, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • SAP US payroll implementation experience and background is an added value and preferred qualification.

Ideally, you’ll have

  • Professionals who are comfortable acting as a trusted client advisor and internal technology lead at the implementation workstream level.
  • Individuals who thrive in complex, global environments and can balance structure, standards, and practical delivery needs.
  • A proactive mindset with strong ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to collaborate across business, technology, payroll, product, and implementation teams to deliver a clear and trusted client technology experience.
  • Commitment to quality, compliance, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement across GPO technology delivery.
