The opportunity

As a General Ledger / Accounts Payable Senior Associate, you will support the day-to-day operations of the general ledger, accounts payable, and expense functions. You will prepare and review journal entries, complete reconciliations, financial statement analysis, support period-end close activities and help the team meet critical deadlines. You will also support accounts payable and expense processing and reviews; promote compliance with policies, procedures, internal controls and applicable laws and regulations; and support internal and external audit requests. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across finance functions to support accurate, compliant and timely financial reporting. It is expected that firm available AI tools, such as Copilot, will be regularly utilized to enhance operational efficiency.

 

General Ledger key responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger account structures, organizations and related system configurations in alignment with approved system design documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accounting transactions and financial activities comply with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and EY policies and procedures.
  • Review journal entry requests for completeness, accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation before submission for approval.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules in accordance with established deadlines and accounting requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready journal entry documentation and retain supporting files.
  • Research, analyze and resolve accounting issues, reconciling items and variances in collaboration with internal stakeholders and process owners.
  • Perform balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations; confirm balances are properly supported; and investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Execute assigned subperiod-end, month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities within established timelines.
  • Identify, investigate and escalate accounting, reporting or system issues that may affect financial accuracy, compliance or close timelines.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Monitor and manage the general ledger accounting inbox, ensuring requests and inquiries are addressed or routed promptly.
  • Partner with process owners and other finance teams to reconcile accounts and resolve accounting matters.
  • Participate in testing, validation and implementation activities for Costpoint enhancements, system upgrades and accounting process improvements.
  • Develop and maintenance of desktop procedures
  • Develop reconciliation templates
  • Collaborate with G&I Finance, Compliance and firmwide stakeholders to promote consistent accounting treatment.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses, contribute to special projects and complete other duties as assigned in support of business and operational objectives.

 

Accounts Payable key responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable vouchers and expense reports in accordance with internal policies and procedures, FAR, DFARS and CAS.
  • Verify that accounts payable vouchers include appropriate supporting documentation and valid project, account and organization combinations consistent with the G&I financial architecture.
  • Train and coach staff on systems, policies, procedures and applicable external requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted business advisor on expense and accounts payable processes, promoting operational excellence, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain vendor master records and respond to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain the accounts payable subledger and reconcile it to the general ledger.
  • Develop and maintain accounts payable and expense procedure guides and training materials.
  • Assist with configuration and testing of accounts payable and expense functionality in Costpoint.
  • Monitor accounts payable workflow and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Collaborate with G&I enablement teams, including Contracts Management, Subcontracts Management, Purchasing, Finance and Compliance.
  • Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and drive timely resolution.
  • Prepare subcontractor and vendor accruals for month-end close, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting requirements, and perform other duties as assigned.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of related accounting experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint
  • Experience with government contracting
  • Experience with general ledger, accounts payable and expense processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and lookup functions

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job is: 
    • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $81,500 to $134,500
    • Bay Area California offices – $84,900 to $140,100
    • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $67,900 to $123,300 
  • Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
