EY's Forensics Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice specializes in helping clients achieve their financial recovery goals following disaster events such as hurricanes, fires, tornadoes, cyber incidents, and other catastrophic losses. We assist some of the most complex public and private sector entities with insurance recovery, claims preparation, compliance, and financial analysis.

 

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced insurance claims professional with a background in commercial claims adjusting to join our practice as a Manager. This role is ideal for a property, business interruption, cyber, builder's risk, or large-loss adjuster seeking to apply their claims expertise in a consulting environment.

As a Manager, you will lead complex insurance recovery engagements, advise clients through significant loss events, and oversee teams responsible for the preparation and presentation of multimillion-dollar insurance claims. You will work directly with corporate policyholders, brokers, insurers, adjusters, attorneys, engineers, and forensic accountants to help clients maximize and accelerate their financial recovery.

 

Your key responsibilities

You'll work with our clients' risk management teams, C-suite executives, operations and other key stakeholders, assisting them to recover from property damage, business interruption, and other types of covered losses. This work will include:

  • Providing comprehensive financial, economic and strategic advice to companies with complex disaster recovery and insurance claims.
  • Reading, summarizing and providing advice to clients regarding multiple types of insurance policies and their coverages.
  • Developing claim strategies based on the insurance policy and claim type.
  • Following a loss, advise clients throughout their financial recovery by exploring all available coverages afforded to them.
  • Navigate how to properly track and place costs within the parameters of the policy for claim preparation.

 

Travel and presence at client sites, along with in-office presence will be required.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of commercial insurance claims experience.
  • Experience as a Property Adjuster, General Adjuster, Executive General Adjuster, Large Loss Adjuster, Complex Claims Specialist, Business Interruption Adjuster, or similar claims professional.
  • Strong understanding of commercial property, business interruption, extra expense, cyber, builder's risk, or other first-party insurance claims.
  • Experience managing large and complex losses involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Achieved a professional designation, such as CPCU,  CPA, CFE, CFF
  • Strong project management and client relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading teams.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience handling large commercial losses in excess of $10 million.
  • Experience working with Fortune 500 companies and sophisticated risk management organizations.
  • Experience coordinating with brokers, coverage counsel, engineers, and forensic accountants.
  • Catastrophe claims experience.
  • Business interruption or financial loss measurement experience.
  • Prior experience serving as a technical resource within a carrier or independent adjusting organization.

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $104,800 to $192,300.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $125,700 to $218,500.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
