Job description
Location: Anywhere in Country
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
The opportunity
Commerce has become one of the most complex and interconnected parts of the enterprise. The experience a customer sees at the storefront depends on decisions spanning product, content, customer data, pricing, promotions, payments, order management, fulfillment, marketing technology, cloud architecture and enterprise integration.
EY Studio+ seeks a Commerce Technical Architect at the Manager level who can bring those pieces together.
In this role, the successful candidate will operate as a senior client-facing technical architect, helping organizations define, design and deliver modern commerce solutions. The candidate will lead conversations with business and technology stakeholders, translate complex technical concepts into clear business implications, and turn ambiguous requirements into scalable, secure and achievable solution architectures.
This role is not focused on a single product or platform. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in at least one leading commerce platform and the architectural breadth to work across multiple ecosystems, including Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce, Shopify, commercetools and other enterprise or composable commerce technologies.
The successful candidate will contribute across the full engagement lifecycle, from discovery and pursuit solutioning through architecture, delivery governance and launch.
Your Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture and solution design for enterprise commerce transformations across leading commerce platforms and composable ecosystems.
- Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, translating strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions.
- Lead client workshops, architecture reviews and solutioning activities across pursuits, delivery programs and digital transformation initiatives.
- Guide platform selection, integration strategy, architecture governance, and technical decision-making across complex commerce ecosystems.
- Support proposals, pursuits, RFP responses and executive presentations by articulating solution vision, implementation approach and business value.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams spanning experience, strategy, product, data, AI and engineering to deliver integrated solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural oversight and risk management throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Mentor technical teams and contribute to the growth of the EY Studio+ Commerce architecture practice.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong client presence with the ability to engage both executive stakeholders and technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technology concepts into clear business outcomes and recommendations.
- Strong structured problem-solving skills and confidence navigating ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and make practical recommendations aligned to business objectives.
- Strong understanding of modern commerce capabilities, customer journeys and supporting enterprise ecosystems.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams through hands-on problem solving, guiding teams in addressing complex business and technical challenges.
- Commercial awareness, including experience contributing to estimates, staffing approaches, business cases and delivery plans.
- Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and team development.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 9+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise commerce solutions in consulting, digital agency or complex client environments.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a Technical Architect or comparable technology leadership role.
- Deep implementation experience with at least one leading commerce platform, such as:
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud (B2C or B2B)
- Adobe Commerce / Magento
- Shopify / Shopify Plus
- commercetools
- SAP Commerce Cloud
- Other enterprise commerce platforms
- Experience working across multiple commerce platforms or the demonstrated ability to quickly adapt architecture expertise across different commerce ecosystems.
- Experience designing integrations across ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, CMS, CDP, payment, tax, search and marketing technology platforms.
- Experience with API-led, headless and composable commerce architectures.
- Experience leading client-facing workshops, solution design sessions and architecture reviews.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional delivery workstreams.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel based on client and engagement needs.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Architecture or implementation certifications for Salesforce, Adobe, Shopify, commercetools, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Experience with omnichannel commerce, marketplaces, subscriptions, loyalty, internationalization or multi-brand commerce implementations.
- Experience applying AI and automation to commerce experiences and operations.
- Experience establishing architecture governance for large-scale digital transformation programs.
- Experience supporting pursuits, RFP responses, statements of work and executive presentations.
- Familiarity with MACH principles, cloud-native architecture patterns and modern integration strategies.
What success looks like for this role
The successful candidate should be equally comfortable leading an executive discussion on growth opportunities and customer experience and guiding engineering teams through architecture decisions, integrations and implementation tradeoffs.
The strongest candidates combine deep technical credibility with strong business acumen. They understand that successful commerce transformation is not simply about implementing a platform. It is about creating a scalable, adaptable ecosystem that drives growth, improves customer value and enables long-term business success.
