At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.  Join EY and help to build a better working world.

Today’s healthcare environment is undergoing rapid transformation. Healthcare organizations are navigating increasing financial pressure, evolving reimbursement models, workforce challenges, rising consumer expectations, and the accelerating adoption of technology and artificial intelligence. As a Senior Manager within our Health consulting practice, you’ll work with healthcare providers, healthcare services organizations, and private equity clients to transform revenue cycle operations, improve financial and operational performance, enhance the patient financial experience, and build more efficient, technology-enabled operating models.

The opportunity

EY’s Health consulting practice is expanding its Revenue Cycle capabilities at a time when healthcare organizations are rethinking how revenue cycle operations are designed, delivered, and enabled by technology. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key leadership role in this growth, working with leading health systems, academic medical centers, physician enterprises, healthcare services organizations, and private equity investors and their portfolio companies to solve complex challenges, lead enterprise transformations, and drive measurable financial and operational outcomes.

This is an opportunity to do more than manage engagements. You will help shape new solutions, grow client relationships, develop high-performing teams, and build the next generation of revenue cycle transformation capabilities leveraging AI, automation, advanced analytics, and modern operating models.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Manager in our Health consulting group, you’ll spend most of your time working with healthcare providers, healthcare services organizations, and private equity clients to assess, design, and implement revenue cycle transformation initiatives that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and the patient experience. Responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as a senior engagement leader for complex revenue cycle transformation programs across integrated health systems, academic medical centers, physician enterprises, healthcare services organizations, and private equity portfolio companies.
  • Advise executive stakeholders, including CFOs, Chief Revenue Officers, Revenue Cycle leaders, operating executives, and private equity sponsors on financial and operational improvement strategies.
  • Lead large-scale initiatives spanning patient access, financial clearance, utilization management, HIM and coding, clinical documentation improvement, charge capture, revenue integrity, claims operations, denials management, underpayments, cash acceleration, and patient financial services.
  • Design and oversee enterprise transformation strategies focused on improving margin performance, reducing administrative friction, strengthening reimbursement outcomes, and enhancing the patient financial experience.
  • Lead integrated, multidisciplinary teams across the U.S. and EY’s global delivery network, bringing together the right capabilities, experience, and resources to deliver complex client transformations.
  • Direct multiple workstreams while maintaining accountability for delivery excellence, measurable client outcomes, engagement economics, and executive stakeholder alignment.
  • Lead executive steering committees, operational governance forums, and strategic decision-making discussions with client leadership teams.
  • Drive technology-enabled transformation involving AI, automation, advanced analytics, workflow redesign, EHR optimization, and modern operating models.
  • Develop transformation roadmaps, business cases, implementation plans, governance structures, and performance management frameworks that translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships, helping expand EY’s footprint across healthcare organizations and private equity portfolios.
  • Play a leadership role in business development activities, including account strategy, opportunity shaping, proposal development, solution design, executive presentations, relationship cultivation, and strategic pursuits.
  • Contribute to practice growth through solution innovation, market development, thought leadership, recruiting, mentorship, and internal leadership initiatives.
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and performance-oriented culture.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to lead complex, multi-workstream revenue cycle transformation programs and translate strategic objectives into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior healthcare leaders and private equity stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and desire to contribute to the continued growth and evolution of our Revenue Cycle practice by bringing forward new ideas and translating them into differentiated solutions and market opportunities.
  • Ability to lead and motivate integrated, multidisciplinary teams across the U.S. and EY’s global delivery network, bringing together the right capabilities and expertise to meet client needs.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare provider operations and the financial, operational, technology, and workforce challenges affecting the revenue cycle.
  • Ability to think beyond traditional consulting approaches and combine operational expertise with technology, automation, analytics, AI, and new operating models.
  • Ability to operate across the full lifecycle of an opportunity, from identifying a client need and shaping the solution through delivery and realization of measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to work across organizational and capability boundaries, collaborating with diverse teams and bringing the best of EY to solve complex client challenges.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage engagement economics, delivery risk, quality, timelines, and client expectations across complex engagements.
  • Commitment to developing people, creating opportunities for others, and building high-performing teams within a collaborative and inclusive culture.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree and approximately 10 or more years of relevant work experience, or a graduate degree and approximately 7 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Significant experience in healthcare consulting, provider operations, or revenue cycle leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, enterprise-scale revenue cycle transformation engagements or initiatives for hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, physician enterprises, and healthcare services organizations.
  • Deep experience across one or more core revenue cycle domains, including patient access, financial clearance, utilization management, coding, clinical documentation improvement, charge capture, revenue integrity, billing, claims management, denials, underpayments, and patient financial services.
  • Experience serving as a senior advisor to healthcare executives on operational strategy, financial performance improvement, organizational transformation, and technology enablement.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex programs, including teams operating across U.S. and global delivery models, while maintaining accountability for delivery quality, client outcomes, and engagement financial performance.
  • Experience supporting or leading business development activities, including opportunity identification, solution development, proposal development, executive presentations, and strategic pursuits.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A willingness to travel to meet client needs.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience with major healthcare technology platforms and ecosystems, including Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, automation solutions, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Experience designing or implementing centralized, shared services, global delivery, managed services, or other alternative operating models.
  • Experience developing and implementing technology-enabled revenue cycle solutions involving AI, automation, analytics, or digital workforce capabilities.
  • Experience across both health system and physician enterprise revenue cycle operations.
  • Experience in an operational leadership role within a health system, physician enterprise, or other healthcare provider organization, bringing a practical understanding of the challenges of leading and sustaining transformation from within an organization.
  • Experience working with healthcare services organizations, private equity investors, or private equity portfolio companies.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to practice growth through business development, solution innovation, thought leadership, recruiting, or talent development.
  • An MBA, MHA, MPH, or other relevant advanced degree, or equivalent significant professional experience.
