EY focuses on high-ethical standards and integrity among its employees and expects all candidates to demonstrate these qualities.

The opportunity

The Emerging Technology Client Activation role is responsible for monitoring and tracking all activities related to emerging technology engagements at designated clients.  The role focuses on enhancing the influence and sales impact of the emerging technologies team within the client environment.  Key objectives include recommending strategic activities for both the emerging technology team and the account team to boost client engagement, elevate our thought leadership, and indirectly expand market influence.  This position also involves coordinating activities to deepen client relationships, reporting progress and influence metrics to leadership, and supporting cross-functional tech teams to refine and integrate solutions.  The role requires diligent tracking and reporting using established tools to ensure transparency and strategic alignment.

Your key responsibilities

  • Monitor and document all emerging technology initiatives at assigned clients
  • Ensure comprehensive guidance of ongoing engagements and their alignment
  • Analyze client engagement data to suggest activities that will amplify the team’s influence and sales potential
  • Propose initiatives for both the emerging technology team and the account team to execute
  • Coordinate, support and/or facilitate events, workshops or demonstrations that showcase the value and innovation of emerging tech solutions.
  • Advise on content creation, speaking opportunities, and other avenues to establish and promote the emerging tech team’s expertise
  • Regularly compile and present reports to leadership on client engagement, providing insights for decision-making
  • Work closely with emerging tech teams to foster collaboration, share best practices, and enhance solution offerings
  • Leverage standard tools to systematically track project status, ensuring data-driven insights guide strategy
  • Assess the effectiveness of current strategies in client interactions, identifying patterns or areas where engagement or influence is lacking, to inform future tactics
  • Recommend which client activities or engagements should be prioritized based on potential impact on sales, client satisfaction, and thought leadership, balancing short-term wins with long-term strategic benefits
  • Recommend how to allocate team resources (time, expertise, budget) most effectively across activities, especially when demand for emerging tech involvement exceeds capacity
  • Evaluate the outcomes of tech engagements to recommend whether to scale, pivot or discontinue certain initiatives, ensuring resources are used where they yield the highest return
  • Analyze risks associated with introducing new emerging technology concepts or solutions to clients, making recommendations on how to mitigate these risks while maintaining innovation and client trust
  • Use data from engagement tools and client feedback to make recommendations about adjusting strategies
  • Decide on the best methods to integrate different teams’ capabilities for client projects
  • Oversee activities across various teams involved in client engagements without direct supervisory authority, ensuring all parties are aligned with project goals
  • Facilitate the assignment of tasks among team members, working through team leads or project managers to ensure responsibilities are clearly defined and executed
  • Keep track of how tasks and projects are progressing across teams, providing feedback or adjustments through the appropriate channels without direct oversight
  • Offer guidance and best practices to colleagues on how to engage with clients or utilize technology, acting as an informal mentor or advisor
  • Provide direction on strategic initiatives related to emerging tech at clients, influencing how these teams operate through persuasion and expertise rather than command

Skills and attributes for success

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies (AI, Digital Twin, Web3, Metaverse, Quantum Computing, etc.) and their business applications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Strong data analysis skills to track metrics, assess performance, and derive strategic insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams, clients, and leadership, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Proficiency in developing and recommending strategies that align technology with business outcomes, enhancing client value and market position
  • Expertise in building and maintaining strong client relationships, even without direct interaction, through strategic planning and support to account teams
  • Ability to lead without formal authority, influencing cross-functional teams to adopt new strategies or align with client-focused goals
  • Proficiency in creating clear, impactful reports and presentations for leadership, emphasizing data visualization and storytelling
  • Experience working with diverse teams, including sales, account management, and various tech specialists, to foster a collaborative environment
  • Flexibility to navigate the fast-evolving landscape of emerging technology, adapting strategies and solutions based on new information or market shifts
  • Competence in using standard project management, CRM, and analytics tools for tracking, reporting, and decision-making

To qualify for the role you must have

  • BS/BA in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of working experience in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in analyzing data/metrics, conducting gap analyses, creating process maps, developing action plans, and leading cross-functional efforts
  • Ability to travel as needed to complete assignments
  • Flexibility to connect and collaborate with others, given that we are a distributed business often working across time zones and national borders
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality with sensitive client and company information
  • Proactive approach to staying updated with the latest trends in technology, industry standards, and competitive landscapes
  • Ability to build and leverage a network to gain insights, foster partnerships, or expand influence
  • An innate ability to approach problems creatively, finding innovative solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple client activities and internal demands
