The opportunity
EY's Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice specializes in helping clients recovery financially after disasters, through both commercial insurance and federal disaster grant programs such as FEMA, and prepare and respond to the complex compliance, reporting and monitoring requirements of large grant programs.
The EY team offers a unique combination of forensic accountants, former insurance adjusters with engineering backgrounds, former FEMA professionals, and other professionals who combine to provide our clients with unparalleled expertise. We have the experience and flexibility to devise approaches to handle the simplest to the most complex recovery efforts.
Your key responsibilities
Because all clients have unique issues, you will be an important part of a team working on complex recovery challenges. You’ll work with our clients’ grants management, emergency management, finance, accounting, and compliance departments on complex issues and developing practical solutions that address operational challenges. It’s all about using your technical skills to creatively assess and resolve our clients’ needs on the front lines.

To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Finance or related field, supported by 5 to 8 years’ related work experience
- Achieved, or be working towards a relevant professional designation, such as CPA, CFA, CFE, or similar depending on your area of expertise
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, and the confidence to communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences
- The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Relevant FEMA, HUD, grants management or insurance related experience, preferably with a professional services firm.
