The Opportunity

EY’s Strategy and Transactions team in Canberra offers government clients professional strategy, policy reform, investment and transaction advice and services. This includes:

  • developing cutting edge strategies and business cases to support government investments;

  • providing quality commercial and procurement advice across the transaction lifecycle; supporting government decision making through economic and impact assessments;

  • supporting government to steward and support markets; and

The goal is to help EY clients achieve their best capital performance, deliver value to the Australian public, and meet their strategic objectives. Our market leading team advises clients on strategic policy reform, economics, and regulatory issues for large-scale projects. We provide support from across the policy lifecycle from policy development through to developing reform and investment business cases and evaluating impacts.

In an increasingly globalized world, expanding operations into international trade is imperative for many businesses. EY’s Strategy and Transactions team is actively advising a range of clients domestically and internationally on international trade, development, and market outcomes.

EY is looking for trade policy specialists at a range of levels to be based in Jakarta, Hanoi, and Australia as we continue to grow and advance our international trade capabilities. We are interested in individuals with expertise across all areas of trade, both in terms of policy issues and implementation and corporate management.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • a strong understanding of the global trade environment and Australia’s strategic priorities

  • strong analytical skills with the ability to undertake and manage the delivery of quantitative and qualitative analysis to support decision-making and clearly communicate written analysis in well-structured, evidence-based reports tailored to a variety of audiences

  • strong technical and relationship management skills with the ability to think independently

  • demonstrated experience in delivering technical products, working in project teams and managing client relationships

  • Cross cultural skills which enable messages (both written and oral) to be tailored to different audiences and for different products

  • Experience working in issues of international trade and development, ideally relating to ASEAN and Australia/New Zealand.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Natural curiosity and the ability to think creatively to solve problems

  • Particular expertise in trade issues across Asia

  • Engagement with international development/donor driven programs and/or government agencies involved in trade related issues.

At EY, you’ll be rewarded and recognised based on your performance and our comprehensive benefits package can be tailored to your individual needs. This includes:

  • Flexible working arrangements to help you balance your work and personal responsibilities.

  • Flexible leave options, including the ability to purchase additional annual leave.

  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave along with other additional leave entitlements with no minimum service.

Our wellbeing initiatives cover financial health, physical and mental health, family and community and the quality and value of work. We hold a collective commitment to foster an environment where all differences are valued and respected, practices are equitable, and everyone experiences a sense of belonging.
