As our Oceania Public Affairs Manager, you will be a key part of our team developing and enhancing EY’s corporate reputation and engaging with government. You will also be supporting our Public Policy Leader in building, maintaining, and effectively leveraging strategic relationships and partnerships across government that impact EY Oceania and our profession.
As the Public Affairs Manager, you will be the driving force behind our communication strategies, shaping our narrative, and engaging stakeholders, including at a government level building relationships with ministerial, staffers and the public service, the public, and the media. Your role is instrumental in advancing our objectives and ensuring our messages resonate with diverse audiences.
This exciting opportunity is for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the public policy landscape and a track record of successfully communicating and developing policy for complex issues. Whether it’s the ability to negotiate difficult or sensitive political situations diplomatically or your strong research and communication skills – you put all your heart in it and have a wide range of knowledge and insight into government, policy and legislative process and working of political parties.
What we’re looking for

- Minimum of 6+ years proven experience in public policy communications leadership roles within government or professional services.
- Exceptional research skills and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of policy advocacy, government affairs, and public policy processes.
- Demonstrated success in media relations, crisis communication, and issues management within the context of public policy.
- Strategic and analytical skills, incorporating a strong understanding of, and ability to analyse, the political context in Australia. Existing knowledge of federal parliamentary processes is essential.
- Strong influencing skills; gain support and commitment from others; mobilize people to take action; use creative approaches to motivate others to meet practice strategic goals; engage with leaders effectively to gain sponsorship for activities.
