What if your career could have a lasting impact on you, and the World?

At EY we believe that whoever you are, your uniqueness helps us stand apart.

We bring together extraordinary people, like you, to build a better working world.

What’s in it for you?

EY’s Strategy and Transaction team in Canberra offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where government clients receive expert advice on strategy, policy reform, and investment decisions. We’re on the look for enthusiastic and motivated individuals at different ranks (consultant, senior consultant and manager), who have a strong foundation in economics and policy, and are interested in helping our clients to deliver value to the Australian public.

Our team provides support across the reform lifecycle including:

  • Developing cutting-edge strategies and innovative business cases to support government investments.
  • Supporting government decision-making through economic and financial analysis that addresses strategic policy reform and regulatory issues, including market reforms.

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills and contribute to tackling a broad range of complex issues facing our government clients. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, on a variety of high-impact projects, which shape government decision making. As well as servicing clients locally, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure across the national practice and learn new skills.

We are growing practice, with a strong market presence including in the care economy, health and human services, transport and infrastructure. Each new day brings with it a new challenge, providing the opportunity to develop and share sector specific expertise in industry sectors aligned with your experience and interests.

As well as gaining experience working with some of our biggest government clients, you’ll get access to EY’s extensive training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

As a valued member of our team you will:

  • Provide insightful economic and strategic policy advice to a diverse client base.
  • Conduct data analysis to interpret trends and patterns relevant to government policy areas.
  • Utilise analytical models to evaluate costs, benefits and impacts of proposed government initiatives.
  • Craft clear, well-structured reports and presentations.
  • Play a role in managing client engagements.
  • Contribute to business development including the preparation of top-notch proposals.
  • Build relationships across EY, with clients and other industry professionals.

What we’re looking for:

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.

  • A proactive, positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle large datasets.
  • A strong foundation or interest in undertaking economic and financial modelling/analysis to inform government decision making including cost benefit analysis and impact assessments of proposed initiatives.
  • Experience in advising government on strategic policy issues, or a strong interest in pursuing this path. Experience working in the care economy, is highly desirable.
  • Clear thinking and communication skills, with knack for translating complex analysis into actionable insights and communicate findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once and re-prioritise, as required.
  • Australian citizenship is essential due to Federal Government security clearance requirements on engagements.
