The opportunity

EY Parthenon’s Canberra Infrastructure Advisory (IA) team is a high‑impact, trusted advisor to government, working on complex policy, economic and strategic challenges that shape Australia’s long‑term direction. As a Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to support government clients across strategy, policy reform, investment and major transactions, helping them navigate high‑stakes choices that shape long‑term outcomes for communities, sectors and the nation.

With a strong market presence across international engagement and development, transport, energy and utilities, sustainability and defence, the IA Canberra practice plays a unique role in advancing Australia’s engagement across the Asia‑Pacific, supporting infrastructure programs that strengthen regional connectivity and contribute to long‑term growth and resilience. This gives the team’s work both national and international significance.

As a Manager, you will help tackle complex policy, economic and strategic issues, lead analytical work, translate insights into clear and actionable recommendations, oversee project delivery, and contribute to scaling the team’s capability and market presence. The role offers substantial leadership responsibility alongside opportunities for deep professional development through EY’s global network.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage client engagements, including scoping, delivery and governance.
  • Build strong relationships across EY, and with clients and industry partners.
  • Provide evidence‑based commercial, economic and strategic policy advice to government clients.
  • Produce high‑quality, accessible reports and presentations.
  • Build and apply analytical models, including cost–benefit analysis and impact assessments.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, building IA Canberra’s overall capability.
  • Support business development, including high‑quality proposal preparation.
  • Continue to grow your strengths, sector expertise and professional offering.

Skills and attributes for success

  • 5–10 years’ experience in a similar government or private‑sector role.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, for example finance, accounting, engineering, economics, law, business administration or international relations.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills across quantitative and qualitative domains.
  • Experience working with datasets and building or interpreting economic/financial models.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into actionable insights for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience advising government on strategic policy issues, or a strong interest in developing this expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client‑management skills, with confidence engaging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and people, balancing competing priorities.
  • A proactive, positive and collaborative mindset aligned with IA Canberra culture.
  • Willingness to travel to support domestic and international government partners.
  • Australian citizenship, required for Federal Government security clearances.
