The opportunity 

 

EY Parthenon’s Canberra Infrastructure Advisory (IA) team is a high‑impact, trusted advisor to government, working on complex policy, economic and strategic challenges that shape Australia’s long‑term direction. As a Consultant, you will join a team that supports government in navigating complex strategic, economic and policy choices across major national priorities. Our practice spans international engagement and development, transport, energy and utilities, sustainability and defence, allowing you to contribute to work that directly influences the resilience, capability and long‑term prosperity of communities across Australia.

In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary environment where every day provides opportunities to solve new problems, sharpen your technical capability with hands‑on analysis, and support evidence‑based advice that directly impacts public decision‑making. Your key responsibilities 

 

  • Provide economic and strategic policy advice to a wide range of government clients.
  • Produce clear, well‑structured reports and presentations.
  • Conduct data analysis to interpret trends relevant to government policy areas.
  • Utilise analytical models such as cost–benefit analysis or impact assessments.
  • Support business development through the preparation of proposals.
  • Build relationships across EY, government, and industry.
  • Continue strengthening your professional offering and technical capability.

 

Skills and attributes for success 

 

  • 1–2 years’ relevant experience in government or the private sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, for example finance, accounting, engineering, economics, law, business administration or international relations.
  • Interest in sectors such as transport, energy, international development anddefence,
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with datasets and interpret economic/financial models.
  • Ability to translate complex insights into accessible messages for non‑technical audiences.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset aligned to IA Canberra’s team culture.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support government partners.
  • Australian citizenship (required for Federal Government security clearance).
