The opportunity

 

As our Director, Digital Engineering (Defence and National Security, Cloud) you’ll focus on growing and solving our Defence and National Security client business and technology challenges, as well as cloud technologies. This role will be pivotal in driving our strategic initiatives in the defence and national security sector, leveraging cutting-edge digital engineering solutions to enhance national security capabilities.

This is a role based in Canberra – Ngambri. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of digital engineering strategies for defence and national security clients, ensuring alignment with EY’s broader goals and objectives for Defence & National Security.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the defence and national security sectors, including at C-Suite, understanding their unique challenges and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Cloud Solutions: Drive the adoption of sovereign, classified cloud technologies within defence and national security projects, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Development: Grow, mentor and develop a high-performing team of digital engineers and consultants, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Market Insights: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the defence and national security landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the delivery of complex digital engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to EY’s thought leadership in digital engineering, publishing insights and best practices that position EY as a leader in the defence and national security space.

 

What we look for   

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in technology strategy, architecture, with a strong focus on defence and national security; experience in cloud technologies is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading teams, building organisational capabilities, sales, and managing large-scale projects in a consulting environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of digital engineering principles, cloud architectures, and technologies relevant to defence and national security. Experience in cloud transformations, workload, portfolio assessments, migration planning, within Defence & National Security, and other sectors desirable bonus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Security Clearance: Must hold a Top Secret Positive vetted security clearance as required by market sector, ideally with OSA.
