About MENA Tax Quality
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region includes 14 countries.
MENA TQ’s primary focus and responsibility is to support our client teams with provision of timely, quality advice and guidance to enable them to deliver high quality work, manage risk effectively, innovate, develop business, maintain market presence, and remain in compliance with regulatory, legislative, and internal EY requirements continuously and consistently.
Another of our priorities is to work closely with Global Tax Quality and other MENA business functions such as Risk Management, General Counsel’s Office, Operations, and the wider EY network in delivering and supporting a variety of global and local priorities and initiatives.
We support client teams throughout the entire engagement lifecycle as necessary, provide them with tailored training, communicate messages of importance and act as a vital part of consultation network between teams and other business units.
In addition to day-to-day and defined TQ responsibilities, we get involved in specialized projects, assist with development and updates of policies and guidance as part of global and local efforts, and support the MENA Tax and Law practice in the execution of different strategies and developments.
An opportunity has arisen to join the MENA Tax Quality team as a Team Assistant. As a key support member to a small, but highly experienced and effective team, you will have ample opportunities to utilize and acquire variety of skills and experiences while supporting different projects and initiatives.
The opportunity
The role is split between approximately 75% technical and 25% administrative support.
Your key responsibilities
Technical element:
- Assist with consultations, responding to quality and compliance related queries from the business
- Support various project initiatives, tracking events through resolution
- Assist with review of low- risk engagement acceptances and technology roadmaps
- Participate in policy and guidance research, review and drafting
- Support the delivery of TQ training to Client teams
- Provide ad-hoc cover on some projects during holidays
Administrative element
- Support the broader team with administrative and operational needs
- Scheduling and coordination of meetings – prepare and circulate calendar invitations, assist in finalizing meeting documentation and presentations
- Occasional support with organizing business travel and itineraries
- Maintain the TQ Sharepoint sites (uploading documents and information, managing access and issues if and when any arise)
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Undergraduate/University degree
- 3+ years prior, related work experience preferably in Compliance, Quality, Internal Audit or Risk Management functions or in other fast-paced international organization.
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in working with Outlook and all Microsoft Office products. IT literate, savvy in working with technology in general, ability to promptly learn to work with new systems and tools, detect issues and able to initiate their resolution
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem-solving and time-keeping abilities. Previous EA/PA experience is a plus
- An eye for detail and oriented towards continuous improvement
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively partner and collaborate with other functions on various initiatives
- Able to balance the need to be approachable and supportive with the requirement to be resolute and resilient in challenging situations
- High degree of flexibility, professionalism and integrity
Ideally, you’d also have
- A good command of Arabic (written and spoken)
- Experience working with Power BI or other analytics platforms
- The ability to be future-focused and able to consider and adapt to new and developing areas of the business.
