The Opportunity:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and technology-minded Senior Accountant to support EY Egypt’s finance operations. The role combines ownership of general ledger and closing activities with responsibility for accounts receivable operations, tax compliance support, treasury coordination, financial planning, and strong control over accounting records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own general ledger accounting, including journals, reclassifications, accruals, prepayments, open-item clearing, and period end activities.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet, bank, and fixed asset reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Manage core accounts receivable operations, including system uploads, collection reviews, interoffice follow-up, cheque administration, and stakeholder queries.
  • Support tax preparation and statutory compliance covering VAT, withholding tax, reverse charge, e-invoicing, and required supporting records.
  • Coordinate local finance activities, including bank statements, bank guarantees, advances, insurance-related accounting, and partner-related entries.
  • Maintain vendor and customer master-data documentation and support accurate finance-system records.
  • Assist with cash flow projections, annual budgeting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining complete reconciliations, documentation, and clear audit trails.
  • Ensure compliance with finance policies, internal controls, statutory requirements, and record-retention standards.
  • Use SAP, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled tools to analyze data, automate routine work, strengthen controls, and improve finance processes.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver finance requirements on time.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a proven track record in a well-established multinational organization.
  • Strong hands-on experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, closing activities, accounts receivable, and local finance operations.
  • Good working knowledge of Egyptian VAT, withholding tax, reverse-charge, and e-invoicing requirements.
  • Strong practical knowledge of SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel.
  • Good knowledge of AI and AI-enabled productivity tools, with the ability to apply them responsibly in finance activities.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with strong business communication skills.

Ideally, you’ll also

  • Have experience in a finance or client-facing role within a professional services or multinational environment
  • Understand the invoicing and payment practices of government entities in the GCC
  • Be confident in engaging cross-functional teams and proposing process improvements
  • Have exposure to system rollouts or transformation initiatives involving financial operations
  • Bring experience in continuous improvement initiatives and driving efficiency
