Tax Services Manager - Tax Accounting & Risk Advisory Services (TARAS)

Your key responsibilities

You’ll spend your time supporting client engagements by reviewing senior work product, be the lead manager in your engagement by coordinating the team tasks, managing deadlines, and responding directly to clients and audit requests. You’ll also be tasked with identifying and resolving tax technical issues, as well as sharing insights that will improve our processes and overall efficiency. In this role, you can expect to be prioritizing and handling a wide range of constantly evolving responsibilities.

  • Develop brief understanding of day-to-day activities and transactions related to tax and tax accounting matters and make sure they are properly addressed.
  • Global direct tax compliance – review of income tax return filled and workpapers for foreign jurisdictional income taxes with internal teams or with EY country teams that will be the main source to prepare Return to Provision adjustments and true up Deferred Taxes.
  • Income Tax Provision – review quarterly and annual tax provision for US GAAP and IFRS purposes. And present it to the client as well as be able to respond technical questions related to the preparation.
  • Deferred Tax: prepare and assist on the calculation of deferred taxes on a quarterly and annual basis, as well as proof of deferred balances by performing the calculation based on Tax Basis Balance Sheet approach.
  • Become the client main point of contact and trusted advisor on tax accounting technical matters.
  • Forecasting – Prepare, review, and manage cash taxes forecast by jurisdictions and report to client monthly or quarterly basis. Consult with EY country teams, where necessary.
  • Tax account reconciliation – Review balance sheet tax account reconciliation performed by staff and senior members, making sure appropriate balances are reflected.
  • Other Tax functions – Prepare and review return to provision calculation, and any tax accounting related matter, and submit them for client’s approval. Participate in specific transactions (spin-offs, mergers, acquisitions, APB 23, BEPS) where our clients request our support in calculating its tax accounting impact.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting with approximately five years of related work experience.
  • Strong accounting technical background (exclusively)
  • A background in accounting for income tax and a broad understanding of USGAAP and IFRS guides
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel: dynamic tables, basic-intermediate formulas, etc. (exclusively)
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple projects, and the confidence to engage and integrate directly into our clients’ teams (exclusively)

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring senior colleagues
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members
