SAP Solution Architect

Role Summary

The SAP Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and guiding end‑to‑end SAP solutions within a complex enterprise SAP landscape. This role ensures that finance, procurement and talent solutions are architected in alignment with enterprise standards, SAP best practices, and broader digital transformation objectives.

The architect acts as the technical and functional authority across SAP modules, integrating SAP S/4HANA (or ECC), Ariba, Concur, SuccessFactors, finance, supply chain, and third‑party systems while maintaining a Clean Core approach.


Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Define end‑to‑end solution architectures for SAP Ecosystem
  • Design scalable, secure, and resilient integrations with SAP S/4HANA, finance, and downstream systems.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, integration patterns, and data models.
  • Translate business requirements into architectural designs, solution blueprints, and technical specifications.

SAP & Clean Core

  • Architect integrations using standard SAP APIs, events, and SAP Integration Suite (CPI).
  • Enforce Clean Core principles by minimizing customizations and leveraging standard capabilities.
  • Define extension patterns for requirements not met by standard functionality.
  • Ensure data consistency across procurement, finance, and reporting platforms.

Governance & Quality

  • Serve as the design authority for SAP solutions across programs and releases.
  • Review and approve functional designs, integrations, and configuration changes.
  • Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support security, compliance, and audit requirements related to procurement systems.

Delivery & Transformation Support

  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams to guide implementation.
  • Support SAP transformation initiatives (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA, Ariba expansion, procurement modernization).
  • Provide architectural leadership across system integrators and vendors.
  • Support cutovers, go‑lives, and post‑implementation stabilization.

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration

  • Act as the primary architecture liaison between IT, procurement, finance, and external partners.
  • Provide thought leadership on SAP roadmap, capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor functional and technical team members on SAP architecture and integration patterns.

Required Qualifications

Core Experience

  • 8+ years of SAP Architecture experience with strong hands‑on SAP expertise.
  • Proven experience architecting SAP in large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating SAP products with SAP S/4HANA or ECC.
  • Experience designing and building BTP applications/extensions

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI), APIs, IDocs, and event‑driven integration.
  • Familiarity with Clean Core, side‑by‑side extensions, and SAP BTP concepts.
  • Experience with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC)
  • Strong understanding of data, security, and authorization models in SAP landscapes.

Architecture & Leadership

  • Ability to create and communicate architecture diagrams, solution designs, and decision papers.
  • Experience operating within enterprise architecture governance frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working across global, matrixed organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance.
  • Exposure to SAP Signavio, LeanIX, or enterprise process modeling tools.
  • Experience supporting SAP RISE or cloud‑based SAP deployments.
  • SAP certifications (Ariba, S/4HANA, Integration, or Architecture) are a plus.
