Integration Architect - SAP & Enterprise Platforms - EY Global Delivery Services
Job description
Integration Architect – SAP & Enterprise Platforms
Role Summary
The Integration Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing domain‑specific integrations across the enterprise SAP and non‑SAP landscape. This role translates enterprise integration standards into practical, high‑quality integration designs that connect SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, and third‑party systems.
Operating under the direction of the Global Integration Architect Lead, the Integration Architect ensures integrations are secure, scalable, reusable, and Clean‑Core compliant, while supporting day‑to‑day delivery across programs and releases. The role acts as the primary integration design owner for assigned domains (e.g., O2C, P2P, R2R, HCM).
Key Responsibilities
1. Integration Design & Delivery
- Design and document end‑to‑end integration flows for SAP and non‑SAP systems within assigned business domains.
- Apply standard integration patterns (API‑led, event‑driven, batch, synchronous/asynchronous) as defined by the Integration Architect Lead.
- Produce integration design specifications, mappings, and interface contracts suitable for building teams and system integrators.
2. SAP Integration Suite Implementation
- Design integration using SAP Integration Suite (e.g., Cloud Integration, API Management) in alignment with enterprise standards.
- Leverage standard SAP APIs and events wherever possible to minimize custom development.
- Support integration testing, defect resolution, and performance tuning activities.
3. Standards Compliance & Clean Core
- Ensure all integrations comply with enterprise integration standards, security requirements, and Clean Core principles.
- Identify and raise integration risks, design gaps, or non‑standard requirements to the Integration Architect Lead.
- Avoid point‑to‑point integrations unless explicitly approved through architecture governance.
4. Cross‑Architecture Collaboration
- Work closely with Solution Architects to ensure integrations support end‑to‑end solution designs.
- Collaborate with Data Architects to ensure data semantics, mappings, and quality requirements are met.
- Coordinate with Cloud & Infrastructure Architects to ensure integrations meet runtime and non‑functional requirements.
5. Delivery Support & Operational Readiness
- Support build and deployment teams by clarifying integration designs and resolving implementation issues.
- Participate in integration testing cycles, cutover planning, and go‑live support as required.
- Ensure integration documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained for operational handover.
Required Skills & Experience

- Hands‑on experience designing and delivering enterprise integrations in SAP‑centric environments.
- Experience integrating SAP S/4HANA, Ariba, and/or SuccessFactors with other SAP and non‑SAP systems.
- Practical experience with SAP Integration Suite or equivalent middleware platforms.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, message formats (JSON/XML), and integration security concepts.
- Experience with synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
- Ability to read and interpret functional requirements and translate them into technical integration designs.
Professional Skills
- Strong collaboration skills across architecture, delivery, and vendor teams.
- Ability to work within defined architectural standards and escalate deviations appropriately.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large SAP programs (e.g., S/4HANA transformation, Ariba or SuccessFactors rollouts).
- Familiarity with event‑driven architectures and API lifecycle management.
- Exposure to global, multi‑region enterprise environments.
Success Measures
- High‑quality, reusable integrations delivered on time and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Minimal integration‑related defects and production issues.
- Strong adherence to Clean Core and architectural guardrails.
- Positive feedback from Solution, Data, and Platform Architecture peers.
