Job description
The Controllership Lead (Associate Director) role will be based out of GDS Argentina and will primarily be responsible for ensuring timely and effective execution of financial and operational activities related to EY US Controllership. This is a strategic role forming a part of EY’s US Controllership leadership and GDS ES Finance leadership team, ensuring smooth management of Controllership functions, development and growth of the team.
The Associate Director will leverage their expertise of accounting operations to drive the day-to-day operations of EY America’s finance activities, including U.S. firm wide and practice-level internal management and external financial reporting and compliance, operations analysis and control, financial policies and procedures, cost accounting, and financial support for firm wide initiatives, numerous departments and several affiliates. The Associate Director will be a key leader in managing the newly established Buenos Aires team supporting the U.S.
In addition to overseeing the Buenos Aires team, the Associate Director will bring a strategic mindset, positioning themselves as a critical advisor to work with the US-based Finance team.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Demonstrates responsible leadership and accountability to drive the Buenos Aires team
- Lead and develop the Controllership and Accounting teams, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recommend and implement process improvement initiatives
- Support and guide team members to boost performance and growth in Buenos Aires team
- Collaborate and work closely with the US Controller to understand requirements and liaise with the GDS BA Controllership team to ensure successful implementation
- Capability to prioritize tasks and manage conflicting priorities within a team.
Analytical/ Decision Making Responsibilities:
- Make relevant decisions to ensure the Buenos Aires team provides optimal support for the US Controllership team
- Act as a strategic advisor to US-based finance teams, supporting decision-making and operational excellence
- Utilize sound financial practices and seek leading practices to drive continuous improvement.
- When working on controllership activities, leverage system and finance expertise to prepare the discussion: make judgments regarding the topics to address and their prioritization, understand when to reach out to other functional experts to help execute assigned tasks
Accounting and Financial Operations:
- Support for the day-to-day operations of EY US finance activities including:
- Managing a monthly close process to ensure entries are recorded timely and accurately
- U.S. firm wide and practice-level internal accounting
- External financial reporting and compliance
- Balanced scorecard reporting, financial policies and procedures
- Cost accounting and financial support for firm wide initiatives
- Form and communicate a clear and concise view of monthly close reporting requirements
- Synthesize and communicate detailed financial information in support of effective decision making
- Utilize sound financial practices and seek leading practices to support operational excellence
- Focus on analysis, advice and solutions that drive the continuous improvement of financial performance
- Drives interactions that build trust and manage expectations with all stakeholders
- Teams with finance colleagues and other functions to enhance service to stakeholders, and to leverage leading practices
- Leads teams of accounting managing complex processes including all financial accounting operations and general ledger.
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Qualified Accountant CPA (Certified Public Accountant) would be preferable
- Minimum of 12-14 years of experience in a finance role required to perform in this position, controlling experience for a US based company preferable
- Proven experience in leadership role, managing teams, driving performance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications (Excel, PowerApp), PowerBI, Data Analytics tools and SAP preferably.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP or similar platforms is a plus.
- C2 proficiency in English and ability to liaise with US based roles.
- Provide support and guidance to team members as needed, especially Assistant Director’s (Managers)
