The opportunity


As a Business Product Manager you will get the opportunity to be part of Data Office Leadership team and will be pivotal in providing input for designing global vision and strategy for the data fabric roadmap.

 

A BPM, will be part of core product team and working with business, technical specialists across the product domains to establish a clear view of what is needed, combined with strong technical expertise to enable onward communication and engagement with the technical product managers and engineers.  

 

The BPMs are responsible for strategic projects and incoming demand, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to team leadership as well as Data Office PMO, liaising with key stakeholders and support organizations such as IT solutions, development initiatives and other Data Office organizations.  

 

The individual holding this role will drive high impact and transformational business initiatives that are aligned to priorities through program planning and rigor, as well as ensuring consistent and effective demand management for services to the firm.  
 

Your key responsibilities


A business product managers (BPM) will be at the forefront in working with our internal and external clients to understand requirements, synthesize them, drive end to end value proposition, work with technical product managers to define a product roadmap that delivers our strategic ambition and successfully validate release. 

 

A BPM will be responsible for strategic projects and incoming demand, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to team leadership as well as Data Office PMO, liaising with key stakeholders and support organizations such as IT solutions, development initiatives and other Data Office organizations.  

 

The person holding this role will drive high impact and transformational business initiatives that are aligned to priorities through program planning and rigor, as well as ensuring consistent and effective demand management for services to the firm.  

 

He/She will also be responsible for overseeing the operational excellence of the function including ensuring proper project management, technical support, awareness, communications through solutions enablement through relationships with key support organizations in EY Client Technology.

 

In addition to establishing a strong understanding of the features and capabilities of the full EY data fabric, BPM may be expected to develop deep knowledge and responsibility for specific sub-products, such as data governance and/or data supply chain.
 

Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, data management, business intelligence, data science background a plus.  3-5 years of relevant experience in product management for enterprise products, preferably within a global, corporate environment and 3 years of data experience, preferably data management, data governance, data supply chain. In addition product management, project management or program management certification is desirable.
  • Manages complex to highly complex projects that require the ability to create and implement timelines related to project deliverables, assign tasks and follow up on their completion and manage sponsor/stakeholder expectations of the outcome of the deliverables.
  • Understands the Data Office and Firm’s go-to-market strategy and service delivery models, how core business services support business lines, and how business operations enable exceptional client service and high performing teams.
  • Applies judgment in tailoring methodologies, processes and practices to specific requirements of projects/products/services.
     

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Possesses strong understanding of the firm’s business, organizational structure and operations and leverages it to effectively identify opportunities to support the firm’s strategy and key initiatives.
  • Experience with scrum and other agile development methods
  • Combination of deep technical knowledge and customer-focused mindset
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership capabilities, managing globally dispersed, virtual teams and global programs
  • Ability to direct a team and create an environment which supports generating and sharing creative ideas and solutions
  • Understanding of and desire to strive for technical excellence
  • Understanding of the business and demonstrated commercial acumen using commercial language that presents knowledge activities in the context of business objectives
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to talk about programs in a clear, compelling manner with a professional/executive presence
  • Ability to assert ideas and influence others to gain support and commitment
  • Understands the role and operations of other major business areas that intersect and integrate under Trusted Data Fabric.
  • Self-starter, who can think strategically and consider a broad range of factors when solving/prioritizing issues and making decisions
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.  Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives at one time
  • Ability to identify, influence and leverage internal subject matter resources
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and practices
  • Proficient in articulating complex data concepts and issues in clear terms; interprets business issues and communicates ramifications of decisions to leadership and stakeholders
  • Experience in successfully supporting large complex projects
  • Strong relationship and project management with execution discipline skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to display a range of communication approaches for diverse community needs
  • Able to demonstrate team management experience, depending on supervisory responsibilities
  • Proficient in relevant technologies and knowledge/familiarity of Azure, AWS or GCP services
  • Working knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and in addition knowledge of analytical tools such as Power BI will be helpful
  • Ability to quickly analyze issues, develop solutions and effectively communicate recommendations
