The opportunity

 

We are seeking talented finance professionals to join a newly created team as part of a unique collaboration between EY and SCOR. In this role, you will be employed by EY while working within the finance and accounting function of SCOR, a leading global reinsurer renowned for its innovative range of reinsurance and insurance solutions. As SCOR establishes SCOR Bucharest, you will play a crucial role in assisting their accounting operations, specializing in IFRS and Solvency II standards.

Your key responsibilities

 

Accounting Tasks:

  • Oversee journal postings for both technical and non-technical topics, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Manage cash settlement processes, leading closing activities in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, OMEGA), including complex foreign exchange runs and open item resolution
  • Review and approve journal entries and adjustments made by junior staff, providing guidance and training as needed

Reconciliation:

  • Lead reconciliations for intercompany operations and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies efficiently
  • Oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with data from source systems and technical accounting tools, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Prepare and review comprehensive analysis memos (e.g. claims movements, unusual technical events) providing insights to senior staff
  • Conduct in-depth baseline results analysis, focusing on new, renewed, and canceled business, including technical results and IFRS17 KPIs
  • Generate detailed reports and perform advanced analysis on FX movements, tax balances, and expense trends, presenting findings to stakeholders

Audit & Compliance Support:

  • Provide support to local finance teams for internal and external audit requests, preparing audit documentation and addressing queries effectively

Systems:

  • Technical accounting tool: OMEGA (SCOR proprietary system)
  • Accounting tool: SAP GL
  • Reporting / Analysis tool: Business Object
  • Consolidation reporting: SAP BFC

  

Skills and attributes for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred
  • Have 3-6 years of experience in accounting within the insurance industry
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP) and MS Excel

 

Ideally you`ll also

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of IFRS standards and regulatory requirements
  • Possess excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams
