Global Mobility Senior Tax Consultant

The opportunity

Our Global Mobility team mainly works with personal tax and social security matters, offering both compliance and advisory services for employees working locally or internationally.

We also support clients with questions related to expatriates and international assignments, including immigration, compensation & benefits, and basic international employment topics.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in Global Mobility, personal income tax, or international HR activities, especially working with expatriates (both employees coming into the country and those going abroad).

The ideal candidate should be comfortable interacting with clients and, in some cases, be able to take a leading role in managing key projects or engagements.

Your key responsibilities

• Client support on mobility matters, in accordance with the scope of work;
• Discuss with the engagement team to understand the client’s business, provide practical implementable solutions, supports and takes ownership for the implementation of these recommendations;
• Utilize the firm wide methodologies and tools, including computer-based software solutions;
• Working on all engagements under the supervision of a Senior Consultant / Experienced Consultant;
• Prepares working papers and other documents in conjunction with serving the client (e.g., proposals, engagement letters, presentations, final reports, personal tax computations);
• Prepares specific tax returns and several personal income tax calculations/ assessments;
• Undertakes (in close collaboration with the Senior Consultant or with the Manager) consultancy/ advisory activities within tax, social security and general mobility aspects;
• Maintains the relationship with the Romanian national authorities (e.g. tax authorities, social security or labor authorities, etc.) and with other relevant institutions (e.g. intermediary bank, etc.);

Skills and attributes for success

• Higher education within economy, law or HR

At least 3 years of relevant experience in the following areas:

• Expatriate tax compliance: income tax and social security computation in respect of income derived by expatriates in Romania, related social security issues;
• Personal taxation consultancy: regarding the tax status/ tax treatment of various types of income derived by Romanian nationals in Romania or from abroad;
• Compensation: salary, benefits, perquisites, bonuses and long-term incentives

Ideally, you’ll also  

• Have experience with English as work language;
• Be poactive, team player, pragmatic, with great ability to prioritize tasks
