EMEIA FSO - Regulatory and Public Policy Manager 


The EMEIA Financial Services Organisation (FSO) Public Policy team, helps to strengthen EY’s brand externally and protect EY’s reputation while assisting EY FSO client teams in the market. This involves developing relationships with regulators, financial services trade bodies investors and leading on many areas of public policy. The EMEIA FSO’s Public Policy team is responsible for identifying and assessing the impact of EU regulatory and policy matters on FSO clients and where applicable political and regulatory risk to EY. This role is based in the Brussels ‘EY Hub’ office. The Opportunity

 

The role will take day to day responsibility for maintaining our regulatory horizon scanning tool, the regional ‘political and regulatory tracker’ and processes in respect of the coordination of our internal response to public consultations from financial services regulators and public policy makers. Overall the role will provide the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience within regulatory and public policy as well as enabling the overall objectives, tasks and vision of both the team and regional leader. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in the development of the public policy function and to help lead on the coordination of an EMEIA FSO regulatory network across our markets.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Horizon scanning and analysis of key developments to update internal stakeholders 
  • Help lead internal interactions with subject matter experts and senior leaders
  • Be the liaison between the EU Hub in Brussels and EMEIA FSO public policy 
  • Flag and action potential commercial opportunities linked to EU institutions and agencies relevant to FSO
  • Manage and enable the growth of a junior team member
  • Contribute to EY’s Financial Services Global Regulatory Network with a European perspective
  • Day-to-day management of our external consultants in Brussels

 

Skills and Attributes for Success

 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across the region and with the wider business as a whole
  • Demonstrable ability to develop trusted business relationships with internal senior stakeholders 
  • Experience of developing responses to Public Consultations from EU regulators and able to distil complex regulatory issues into simple and actionable messages
  • Ability to operate calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities. Especially with regards to ad-hoc client requests
  • Ability to work independently without detailed oversight
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to think innovatively
  • Strong personal awareness and credibility in their chosen field
  • Knowledge of international regulatory environment, regimes and requirements in financial services
  • Good organisational, project management and time management skills with a strong focus on delivering results, including an ability to plan ahead and anticipate problems
  • Fluent English – other languages are also a distinct advantage
